Betty Jean Timper
May 2, 1926 - June 19, 2017
Betty Timper, 91, passed away June 19, 2017. She was born May 2, 1926 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Narel and Lillian Phillips. She married John E. "Jack" Timper, Sept. 2, 1946. Together they raised 7 children.
Betty was the most wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Being with her family brought her the greatest joy. She was a devoted Catholic and very active in the Church. She was fun loving with a wonderful sense of humor. She really enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack and their son Mark. She leaves behind 6 children, Mary Kay Griffin, Peggy Oakden, John E. Jr., Barbara, Carol and Michael Timper; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 22nd from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil and Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with a luncheon to follow. A committal service will be held after the luncheon at Murray City Cemetery, 5490 S. Vine St.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer's association in memory of Betty's son, Mark Timper. Help End Alzheimer's.
The family would like to thank the staff and care givers at Highland Cove and Canyon Hospice for their compassionate care.
She will be missed dearly. May she rest in peace.
In Loving Memory
My deepest sympathies to the family and friends. Death at any age is difficult. May you find comfort in the words found at 1 Corinthians 15:26. It says: And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing. And Hosea 13:14 says "From the power of the Grave I will redeem them; From death I will recover them." A wonderful promise from Jehovah God who cannot lie.
