BJ Betty Jayne Wadium
April 2, 1928 - August 10, 2018
Our beloved Mom, Wife, and Grandmother, passed away August 10th, 2018.
Born April 2nd, 1928 in Johnstown, PA, she attended the University of Indiana Pennsylvania, where she was a member of a sorority and graduated with a degree in Home Economics. She subsequently became a teacher. On July 9th, 1955, she married the love of her life Stephan. She was an active volunteer for organizations such as Welcome Wagon, and the Assistance League of Salt Lake City. She was first and foremost a "socialite", with "golfer" being a close second. She enjoyed time with friends bowling and playing bridge. She was also somewhat of a celebrity at substitute teaching, coining the phrase: "If you can say Radium, and you can say Stadium, then you can say Wadium." She truly found joy in teaching. Mom and Dad spent the majority of their time at Willow Creek Country Club, enjoying their friends and Club activities. They were also devout Roman Catholics attending Saint Thomas More Parish in Sandy, Utah. She and Dad were very grateful to the Mont and Grace Reid Family for making them one of their own. Mom was a huge personality in a tiny body, and made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed her newest ones at "The Ridge Cottonwood" Senior Living, along with the staff. She loved and was loved by so many. Her death will leave a void in many peoples lives.
She was preceded in death, by her husband Stephan (2010) and mother Ann, father John, & brother Rodney.
Survived by her children: Chris (Theresa), Susan DeBoer (David), Lisa Happer (Aaron), and grandson Sean Reid Wadium.
There will be a "Celebration of Life", Thursday evening August 16th, from 6-8 pm, at Stark's Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in "BJ's" name, to the Assistance League of Salt Lake City, 2060 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84109.

I am so sorry for your loss! I loved your mother as my own! She will be sorely missed by many. May you find comfort in this time of mourning! She was a wonderful teacher, neighbor (watch dog), and friend. So sorry I was unable to attend her Celebration of Life.
