Bonnie LeBreton Tingey
September 26, 1938 - September 1, 2022
On Thursday, September 1, 2022, we lost our beloved Bonnie LeBreton Barnes Tingey. Bonnie was indeed a fighter, as she held cancer at bay for more than twenty years, before she finally succumbed to it and is now at peace and reunited with family that has already left us.
Bonnie was the youngest of eight children and the last surviving member of her family, born September 26, 1938, to Thomas LeBreton and Lydia Evans LeBreton Wood. She was raised in Utah. She worked at a boarding house that her mom ran, where she met Don Barnes. Bonnie married Don on June 20, 1954 in Elko, Nevada, raised two wonderful children, and later divorced. Bonnie married Jerry Tingey, the “love of her life” and best friend, December 1, 1972 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. Jerry passed away in 1990 and Bonnie moved back to Utah. Afterwards, she reacquainted herself with Milt Raddon, with whom she had a very special friendship for the rest of her life.
Bonnie, or as we liked to call her “Mom” or “Gram” enjoyed being in nature; whether it be sitting in her yard, gardening, golfing or fishing. She loved playing cards, especially with her family. She was quite clever and almost always won. Bonnie was artistic and enjoyed painting and creating unique crafts; her home was filled with her art. Bonnie had a strong and free spirit that she also passed down to her family. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. She dished out compliments and made everyone around her feel loved. Bonnie knew how to make people smile with a kind compliment or her great sense of humor.
She will always be remembered for her beautiful baby blue eyes, her big easy smile, her great, though sometimes inappropriate, sense of humor, and her love and mastery of games…
She is survived and will be forever remembered by her son Rory Barnes (Cori) and daughter Robyn Powers, her four grandchildren, Merceydes Morassi, Jake Barnes (Devon), James “Jimmy” Powers, and Baylee Barnes Drage (Nick), and three beautiful great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Brie Barnes, and Braydon Drage. Stepsons Mike and Kurt (Rosco) Tingey and their children Sean, Melissa, Angela, Brian and Robert.
In the afterlife, Bonnie can reunite with her parents, her seven siblings Tom, Jack, Jim, Jerry, Shirley, Colleen, and Dawna, and her grandson Braydon Barnes. And probably most exciting for her is that she will finally get to reconnect with Jerry.
We would like to thank her nurse Nikki Brenner with Inspirational Hospice. Her loving nature and care for Bonnie was outstanding and we are forever grateful.
Please join us to Celebrate her life Saturday, September 17th at Starks Funeral Parlor 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM. Guests are encouraged to park in the rear, and enter through the rear door on the North side of the building. Graveside to follow at 3:00 PM at the Holladay Cemetery 4900 S. Memory Lane, Holladay.
In Loving Memory
