Boyd “Pretty Boy” Given Bryan
April 6, 1949 - July 19, 2021
Boyd Given Bryan was Born April 6th, 1949, in Salt Lake City to Buell Given Bryan and Helen Virginia Ray.
He attended Highland High School where he was student body Vice President and Co-Captain of the football team. After graduating in 1967 he went on to a variety of adventures. He owned a bar in Salt Lake, dabbled in real estate and worked as a paralegal. He then returned to school to earn a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah and found his true calling as a schoolteacher. He taught at East High and West High in Salt Lake and then at Grand County High in Moab where he filled positions as a Counselor, Special Education teacher, Assistant Football Coach, and a Coach of the Debate Team (which, as most who knew him would expect: He was great at.) After retiring from Grand County High School, he went on to become a Mental and Behavioral Health Counselor at Four Corners Community Behavioral Health assisted the Substance Abuse and Men’s Jail groups.
He lost his long hard-fought battle with a variety of health issues on July 19, 2021.
He is preceded by his father BGB, his mother Ginnie Bryan, sister-in-law Jane Bryan, and brother-in-law Tom Harner. He leaves behind: Brother Dr. Stephen Bryan, sisters Julie Bryan and Barbi Harner, sons Nathan Bryan and Travis Richins, daughters April Holder and Adiena Taylor and eight grandchildren.
Boyd was buried at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Moab, Utah on July 29,2021.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date that will be released by his family on his Facebook page.
