Brandon KC Chard

July 22, 1973 - February 14, 2025

Brandon KC Chard, 51, passed away on February 14, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born on July 22, 1973, in Ogden, Utah, Brandon developed a deep love for the outdoors from an early age. His passion for nature led him to pursue higher education at Utah State University in Logan, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Fisheries and Wildlife and later a Master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. His academic pursuits reflected his lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship and conservation.

But, his talents didn’t end there. Brandon was also a builder. He loved working with his hands, designing and creating beautiful spaces, treehouses and custom projects for his many clients, while owning his own business. His craftsmanship and innovative thinking also helped him make his many houses, homes.

Brandon was an adventurer at heart. He found solace and exhilaration in the great outdoors, whether fishing along quiet streams, backpacking through rugged landscapes, snowboarding down pristine slopes, or rafting wild rivers. Southern Utah held a special place in his heart, and he never missed an opportunity to explore its breathtaking canyons and deserts. A true risk-taker, he embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and fearlessness.

Above all else, Brandon’s greatest joy in life was his children. He cherished every moment spent with his son Gavin and daughter Vivian, sharing with them his love for adventure and the natural world. He also leaves behind his fiancé, Andrea, who stood by him through life’s ups and downs, always believing in him. His mother Debby, sister Brooke, ex-wife Julie and sister Heather also remained important figures in his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Kent.

Brandon’s adventurous spirit and dedication to the environment left a lasting impact on those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him as they continue to find inspiration in the wild places he so deeply treasured.

A celebration of Brandon’s life will be held on Saturday, March 8th from 2-4 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 S 900 E. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building.

My heart goes out to you. Brandon was one of my dearest friends growing up and I will always consider him my brother. I will say a prayer for him and those he left behind tonight, and remember teenagers in cowboy hats bouncing around in an old pickup truck.

Brandon; I vividly remember when you said the next time we went boarding you’d teach me how to cliff drop. Sorry I wasn’t able to tell you I picked up snowboarding again after moving to the west coast. I’ll be thinking of you each day on the mountain. Couldn’t have had a better family to put me onto listening to the Beasty Boys!! Love you, and I will miss you dearly.

Im incredibly sad to hear that Brandon is no longer with us. I have so many good memories I can't possibly put them all into words. Weekends at their house in Logan are some of my fondest memories. Crashing the stage at the Beastie Boys concert was epic. Trying to teach me to rock climb was hilarious. Julie.....I'm so sorry. I loved Brandon like a brother and I really don't know what else to say. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone that was fortunate enough to know Brandon. Goodbye & Godspeed Brandon......
