Cameron James Dilley
February 15, 1982 - August 1, 2025
It is with profound sorrow and deep love that we announce the passing of our beloved Cameron James Dilley, on August 1st, 2025, in Hudson, Ohio, after a recent and courageous battle with mental health. Even in his final months he was showing such bravery in seeking help and support. His journey among us ended too soon, but the legacy he leaves is one of compassion, laughter, empathy, and an unwavering devotion to his kids and his wife.
Cameron was born on February 15th, 1982, in Salt Lake City, Utah with a gentle spirit, a mischievous smile, and a natural charm which would follow him throughout his life! To mom & dad’s surprise, they had a bouncing baby boy instead of a girl as they had been told. Cam continued to be a jokester all his life. Maybe that just runs in the family because his little brother thought it was funny to be born on the same day as Cam, three years later. Cam still had a memory of ‘having cereal for his birthday’ instead of cake. (Although, I’m sure there was some cake…eventually.)
Cam loved sports and played a variety of them growing up. He really loved playing football and boy did he have a special bond with his teammates and friends at Cyprus, many of which are still close friends to this day. He had to grow up faster than planned when we lost our mom when he was 17 and he became a rock to his dad and siblings. He showed resilience and continued pushing forward in his life. Thanks to his dad’s job, Cam also got to travel and travelled often. Many memories come to mind of fun trips or gatherings with friends, family; including the time Matt lost his wallet in the ocean in Hawaii (which Amanda’s friend found floating minutes later.) Or impromptu cruising in the iconic, lime green Jeep that he and Jeff had shared custody of, even still today.
Cam worked at Larry H Miller Honda for nearly 17 years and had a passion for cars. He built many special bonds with both co-workers and customers throughout his career. He was known to go out of his way and especially had a soft spot for his more elderly customers, like taking them to lunch or for a coffee, or simply providing them with a listening ear to their stories and keeping them company. He truly had a gift for recognizing when someone needed an additional moment of his time and could make anyone feel seen, valued, and like they were his best customer.
One of his favorite hobbies was flipping cars and motorized toys. Which might have come from him totaling and replacing nearly every car he owned, as a teenager. He had an incredible knack for turning something old and average into something sleek and desirable. He was so good at attention to detail and putting the smallest finishing touches on which he knew would really make things pop. Of course, we can’t forget to mention his talent for setting up a bombastic sound system, one that would make your hair vibrate (if you know, you know), and preferably on a car with the loudest muffler too, in his earlier years at least. No doubt his appreciation for loud music came from our dad with his prized, cherry-wood corner speakers, turned up full blast so we can hear from outside, which are still in-use today.
Cam met and fell in love with the love of his life, Whitney, in 2007. They were married in 2011 and together had four incredible, beautiful children. His wife and his kids were his entire world. They built a beautiful life together, with a beautiful home and countless traditions making wonderful memories. Whether it was their annual Thanksgiving tradition of going to Disney, or weekends at the Lake house and boating in Pineview, they had living life to the fullest down to an art! Cam and Whit were so cohesive and made it look easy even though we know it was a lot of work, effort, and love. Together they were whole-heartedly invested in, and succeeded in, giving their kids and themselves a life they were proud of.
Cam could often be found tinkering out in the garage with Tucky & some Windex while blaring obnoxiously loud music, ranging from country genre to Nelly. He valued quality time with his kids, whether it was working together on chores or projects, or being involved in their sports and other activities as individuals. He attended many daddy-daughter dances with his little princess, Henley, and was her biggest fan in many competitive cheer competitions across both Utah and Ohio. Cam was always impressed with her athleticism, bravery as a flyer, and strength. He took pride watching Ethan and Zander playing football and even coached for a period with the Copper Hills little league. He was fond of Ethan’s relentless football knowledge, predictions, and listening to him spitting stats about upcoming games and players. And they bonded over being through-and-through Dallas Cowboys fans. Cam also really loved watching Zander continue to play football, especially under the lights at Hudson Middle School. Most recently he enjoyed watching Zander playing Lacross, learning about the game, and the weekend tournament games including playing at the Pro Football Hall of Fame fields. He was also looking forward to Zan’s interest in cooking and trying out more of his delicious home cooking. Little Tucker, the youngest, Cam so enjoyed his vividly creative works of art, crafts, and imagination! Cam was always snapping pictures to share with us, whether it was Tuck carrying around that 3-foot skeleton decoration for nearly an entire year, or standing in the kitchen with the red cowboy hat, cowboy boots, and a rubber snake in his boots, he could always make his dad smile. Tuck was involved in both T-ball and soccer, but most of all Cam cherished their park-dates where he and Tuck would venture off to his favorite park to just play and be with dad. Cam genuinely enjoyed and loved raising his children together with Whitney, wanting them to experience everything life has to offer.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Whitney; his children Ethan , Zander, Henley and Tucker; dad Dennis Dilley; bonus-mom Mary Dilley; sisters Amanda Lujan and Brooke Tiscareno; mother-in-law Sophie Hanson Ide; father-in-law Craig Ide; brother-in-law Thomas Bybee (Evinda), sister-in-law Theo Bybee, nieces Kaylee Slaughter, Vivianna Lujan, and Annabel Bybee; nephews Caden Tiscareno, Gabriel Tiscareno, Blake Aaron Dilley, and Jaren Postma; great-nephew Luca Slaughter; and many, many loving cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family and friends. Whitney, Cathy and I were absolutely shocked to hear about Cam’s passing yesterday. From Nick and Shayla. I was just thinking about you guys two days ago, wondering how you’re doing. When I told you guys that you weren’t allowed to move away, I know we laughed but I really meant it. We will always cherish the memories of having your family as Nextdoor neighbors. I will always remember Cam’s awesome custom golf carts with those sound systems tooling around the streets. I loved it when I heard Cam blasting Creed on his sound system from by the pool. I loved playing my drums along with Creed. Our prayers Whitney for you and your kids. We are planning to see you at Cam’s Memorial Service Saturday. 💝🙏
