Carlida Eileen Montoya

August 22, 1937 - April 4, 2020

Carlida Ilene Montoya age 82, passed away peacefully April 4th. She was born August 22 1937 in Taos New Mexico. She was raised in Taos  and Graduated from Taos High. She later moved to Salt Lake. During this time she did a short time on at a technical school. She later met the love of her life Sam. They married and resided shortly in Wyoming before settling in Salt Lake. They had 5 children. She mainly stayed at home while her children were young. She later went to work at IHC hospitals working in environmental  services. At work she made great friendships that lasted her life time. She was later promoted to  supervisor and trainer and did this until she retired.

She had a strong faith in God and loved her family very much. She was selfless and put her family first.  She welcomed all to her home, giving everyone a piece of her huge heart.  If you entered her home she made sure you felt at home, fed you her yummy homemade food and often toy would not leave without dance. Many referred to her as “ The life of the Party“.  Due to  her love for  cooking, she enjoyed lengthy shopping trips. She also enjoyed watching football, basketball and baseball with her family. She always looked forward to the times she could go back to her hometown of Taos. She loved going to her grandchildren’s  sporting and talent events and surely was their loudest fan.

We will miss her love, humor, entertainment, great food and dance and all the many stories she told us. We will keep all of this in our hearts as memorable treasures. We will never forget her kindness and never ending ability see good in everyone. She will leave us with a reminder to be a Shining light of Love.

She is preceded In death by her parents, Leonardis and Maria, her husband  Sam, two sons, Sam Jr. and Paul, son-in-law Perry, Daughter in laws. Lori and Dawn. Survived by her Aunt Ruby, Sister Francis (Jerry) Brother’s Eddy (Pam), Manny, Son Benny,  Ernie (Wendy) Daughter Maria, Many Nieces and nephews, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren’s  and a Great Great granddaughter.

A memorial service for Carlida will be on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Following the service she will be laid to rest next to her husband Sam at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale.
