Carlos A. Alamilla

November 4, 1913 - June 10, 2011

Carlos A. Alamilla

Carlos was born November 4, 1913, died on June 10, 2011 from causes incidental to his advanced age.

Carlos lived a long productive life after being the oldest of 10 children in his family and going to work at an early age.  He married Ramira Villanueva in 1947 in Mexico City, Mexico.  They had a very happy 49 year marriage which ended with Ramira’s passing in January of 1996.

Carlos came to live with his youngest son in Utah in 1996 and for the next 15 years traveled, enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and oversaw the growing Alamilla family from his perch as the Ultimate Patriarch.

He always enjoyed the presence of his great-grandchildren who literally climbed all over him and gave him a lot of happiness and pride.  His last couple of years were more sedentary due to advancing age and a beginning of degraded health. Nevertheless, he enjoyed futbol every chance he could.  He did not discriminate between European, South American nor North American futbol.  He would yell at the refs, the players, and always cheered on his favorite Guadalajara Chivas.

Preceded in death by his wife, Ramira; parents Juan and Trinidad Alamilla; his oldest son Saul Herrera.

Survived by Eva Herrera, Jose Herrera, Alfonso Herrera, Santiago Herrera, and Carlos V. (Gail) Alamilla; 29 grandchildren; and many wonderful great-grandchildren; brother Rafael Alamilla and sister Victoria Alamilla.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 25th at 11:00 AM at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 1800 S. Orchard Dr., Bountiful.
