Carol Mamie Dye
November 26, 1957 - February 28, 2025

Carol Mamie Dye, Age 67, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on the evening of February 28, 2025. She was born on November 26, 1957, in Salt Lake City to the late Walter and Della Dye.
Carol spent her early childhood in her mother’s small hometown of Grace, Idaho, surrounded by her parents and older sister Marilyn, as well as her mother’s large family. She fondly remembered the time spent outdoors with her sister, many pets, and farm animals. Carol especially adorned the farm kittens and her and Marilyn’s beloved pet lamb, Samantha. Carol was an accomplished student who graduated with honors from East High School in 1975 where she was a member of the National Honor Society and received a National Science Foundation scholarship. She attended the University of Utah and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and later returned to obtain her Master’s in Social Work.
Carol was a lifelong social worker with a deep commitment to her vocation and the people she served. She held numerous community mental health positions throughout her adulthood, and touched the lives of many clients. After college, she fulfilled a dream and moved to her beloved Boston for several years, where she both worked with youth in psychiatric care and was a waitress at Legal Seafoods. Carol then continued her career and education in Utah for several decades, eventually serving as a longtime director of services for adults with disabilities and, later, at a VA home for seniors. She truly loved her work and the many people she met in her career.
Carol enjoyed gourmet cooking, fashion, decorating, entertaining, and spending time with animals. Her home was never without a pet or two, most recently her beloved poodle, Danny-boy. She was an avid backyard bird watcher and gardener who spent many mornings and evenings in her beautifully landscaped yard. She had a loving and generous spirit and cherished her relationships with family and friends, all of whom she spoiled. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her loving partner and friend Joni Johnson, and her lifelong friend and former partner Michelle Klun (Judy). She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Marilyn Woodside; her nephew, Byron Woodside (Caitlin); her niece, Hailey Archer (William); and her two grand-nephews. To our sweet Aunt Carol, thank you for loving us always.
A graveside service will be held on March 10, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S Highland Drive. Friends and loved ones are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Best Friends Animal Society in Carol’s memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor
In Loving Memory
Carol was such a good friend and colleague. Always gracious and kind. She was a true professional who advocated for those who might be disadvantaged in any way. She will missed terribly. Rest in Peace my friend.
