Carole Johnson Duffin

Carole Johnson Duffin was born on May 18, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Edgar and Leona Johnson. She passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, from natural causes from the comfort of her own home at the age of 85.

She is survived by her children: Justeene Blankenship, Toni (Milt) Druce, Shane (Kelly) Duffin; grandchildren: Stevie Stevens, Nick (Katy) Druce, Whitney Druce, Hunter Duffin, Hayden Duffin, Joshua Uyeda and Tyler Uyeda; seven great-grandchildren; and sister Peggy Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis D. Duffin and daughter Danni Duffin Uyeda.

She married Lew in October 1967 and they lovingly raised a blended family.

She was happiest when she was busy, whether she was reading a good book or creating something with her hands. She enjoyed sewing, counted cross-stitch, and crochet, and lovingly made a counted cross-stitch blanket for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—gifts that will be treasured for generations.

Christmas was another special time for her. She made the best English toffee and Spritz butter cookies, treats that became beloved traditions for her family.

In her younger years, she was always ready to lend a helping hand. If someone was sick or needed a babysitter, she was there. Taking care of others came naturally to her, and she found joy in being needed.

She loved sunshine so much that her vanity license plate proudly read “SUNLVR.” She also enjoyed Saturday nights playing cards with her neighbors, a tradition she looked forward to week after week.

And then there were the pigs. She collected pig figurines until she had so many that there simply wasn’t room in her house for any more. Her collection was a reflection of her personality—loving, determined, and never afraid to enjoy the little things that made her happy.

She never considered herself a fan of technology, although that didn’t stop her from playing games on her computer every single day. She had her own way of doing things and was perfectly content with it.

Those who knew and loved her will remember all of these little things—the way she cared for others, her love of babies and family, her creative hands, her sweet treats, her sunshine, her cards, her pigs, her computer games, and her strong opinions. These are the details that made her who she was, and they are the memories that will keep her close in the hearts of those who loved her.
