Carol Merilyn Smith Sheehan

Nana Mother, Carol, Good C. Married to Bad F for 54 years. Carol’s passions: Frank, golf, cards, bowling, Frank, family dinners, poker, cooking, golf, Frank, Hibernian Society golf events, birthdays, Taco Tuesdays, “going to the dogs” at Hidden Lakes, her family, Frank, golf, Rick and Carrie’s Halloween parties, Frank and her holes in one. She had 2!! Carol was born in Columbia City, Indiana on September 25, 1934. Raised in Chicago, where she met Frank at Lake Michigan. Had Erin, Kevin and Colleen. Lived in London for 2 years and then moved to Salt Lake in 1971. Carol managed the ladies shoe department at Weinstocks and then managed Chateau Foret apartments for over 25 years. Carol had a lot of respect for the English language. Carol had “can can” legs. She was able to lift them over her head at age 90. Her friend Diana was astonished. She enjoyed bowling with Zel and Russ, then going to play pool with their personalized pool cues. Taught many youngsters how to play poker pool. She was famous for her “Irish goodbyes.” Carol has been living in assisted living at Valencia at Willowcreek for over 6 ½ years. Even with her dementia, she felt safe and well cared for. The staff, especially the kitchen and the care team, have been extremely compassionate. We could not have asked for a better home for our mother in the last stage of her journey. Thank you all. (Venos, Kelley, Judy, DLA, Ano, Tracy, Parker, Sarah, Melissa, Marissa, Mason, Carmen, Teresa, Janette) Utah Home Health: Randy from Sandy, Lydia and Taylor have been good friends as well as caregivers. Diana has spent Tuesday afternoons with her and it lit her up. Bonnie came and did her hair every Wednesday, as Heather did before her. They played Frank Sinatra music to relax her. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sheehan. She is survived by her children: Erin (Len) Pickens, Kevin Sheehan, Colleen (Bernie) Wahl. Her grandchildren: Tori, Ty, Jaeden, Tanner, Forest, Logan and Story. As well as six great-grandchildren. And her long-time Chicago friend, “Elizabeth Ann Harrison Helman.”
A graveside service will be on Saturday, November 16 at 10:00 AM Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 275 U Street, Salt Lake City. A celebration of life will follow from 1-3 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building.
When you golf at Old Mill, please take a moment to ring the bell on hole #16 that is dedicated to Good C and Bad F.
