Carson Blaine Cassil

April 7, 1993 - January 12, 2024

Carson Blaine Cassil was born on April 7, 1993, in Bakersfield, California and sadly left us on January 12, 2024. Carson was everyone's favorite; the favorite cousin, the favorite older brother and most would even say the favorite grandchild. He was definitely his Mom's, Amy Cassil Segal's favorite “oldest” son.

Carson was kind, funny, adventurous and smart. He also had many talents. Anyone who knew Carson knew him to be a gifted soccer player. Many of his lifelong friends were the result of a decade-long soccer team that competed at the highest level of competition in Utah and beyond. His Dad, Jeff, helped coach from the sidelines at every game. Carson's love for soccer extended through high school where he was a captain of the Olympus High School soccer team. He continued to play soccer through junior college and in many men's leagues thereafter. Carson also had many friends through work. Most recently he competed in a pool league where the team won the Utah pool championship and played in a National Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada this past summer.

Carson shared his love of sports with his little brother, Max. Carson and Max not only shared a love of soccer but played hundreds of games of HORSE outside on the basketball hoop and constantly grilled one another on random NBA statistics. He effortlessly navigated a blended family with his only sister, Cayley. They spent a lot of time traveling together and had an incredible time visiting Hawaii last January.

Carson was always surrounded by family. He took countless family trips to California which almost always included a day at Disneyland. He cheered on the Utah Utes at many home games and at the past two Rose Bowl appearances. There were endless family dinners followed by games of Scum or Rumikub which always included a little bit of “friendly” competition.

Carson especially loved anything and everything when it came to the outdoors. He was an avid mountaineer and enjoyed hiking, backpacking, skiing, snowboarding and rock climbing with his best friend, Cedric. Carson enjoyed golfing and never passed up an opportunity to hit the driving range with his grandpa, Dave. Upon learning of Carson's passing, a neighbor shared that at times this past year he was envious because a weekend never went by where Carson wasn't seen pulling out his golf clubs and waiting outside for his friend, Ashton, and other friends to head to the course.

Carson will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In light of Carson's love of the outdoors, a celebration of his life will be held on the evening of June 21, 2024*, where friends, family and neighbors will be able to share stories and grieve together. In lieu of flowers, Carson's family asks that you show kindness and live each day striving to be everyone's
“favorite”.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. Carson was the best dude. I had the pleasure of playing majority of both my youth competitive team and high school soccer career with Carson. He was a fantastic player and I learned a lot being able to play with him regularly. Carson was a competitor but always brought some comic relief to every situation, he was hilarious. I have some great memories with that team, Carson and Jeff. Thanksgiving dinners on the beach in California, trips down to Delta to play sand soccer, and all the tournaments.   My thoughts and prayers will be with your family.

Carson was such a fun person to work with. His positivity and fun-loving energy was infectious and there was no way you couldn't enjoy the time you spent around him. I particularly enjoyed Carson's love for The Lord of the Rings and have many fond memories working along side him talking deep-lore and being nerds together. He was inclusive, kind and a great man who will be widely missed.

He was one of the few people who believed in me. He gave me opportunity and he made me feel like I was a person. That is a difficult thing for people to understand but he treatedly like a human being. He was a great man and this is a true tragedy sorry for your loss
