Caryl Ann “Oma” Jensen (Jackman)
June 8, 1948 - February 21, 2025
Caryl Ann “Oma” Jensen (Jackman), 76, passed away on February 21, 2025, at her home in Kearns, Utah. She was born on June 8, 1948, in Millcreek, Utah.
Caryl was a vibrant woman with a loving personality, known for her passion for life. She was always busy, whether sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, gardening, or traveling. A lifetime member of the Utah Girl Scouts, Caryl held many leadership roles within the organization. Through Girl Scouts, she treasured her long-lasting penpal relationship with Sheila, with whom she corresponded for over 60 years. Caryl’s love of education led her to hold multiple positions within the Granite School District, where she had a positive impact on many lives.
One of her greatest joys was working with the Utah Quilt Guild, where she shared her creative spirit and dedication. She also had an unexpected passion for NASCAR and Formula One. Her sharp wit made her both endearing and unforgettable to all who knew her. Caryl had a unique ability to make friends wherever she went, always making others feel welcome and appreciated.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Nathan Jackman and Colleen Josephine Jackman (Mason), and her little sister, Evangeline. She’s survived by her loving husband, Richard; her three children, Alan (Kerianna), Tamara (Kristopher), and Tiffany; and her plethora of cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Nathan (Ashley), Cooper (Haylee), Riley, Preston (Bella), Em, Yocelin (Jose), Elisha, Aubrie, Madison, Lilah, Elliott, Oliver, Remington, and Marshall. Each of these family members held a special place in her heart.
Caryl’s smile could light up any room, and her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit and love will remain in our hearts forever.
Please join us for a celebration of her life on Thursday, February 27 from 6-8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Millcreek. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building. She will be laid to rest the following day, February 28 at 2 PM at Plymouth Cemetery in Plymouth, Utah.
She may be gone, but she is always with us.

I will miss Caryl's smile, laugh and stories of her grandkids. I will also miss the Monday conversations at the coffee house. I loved seeing pictures of the latest quilt she was working on; she was so talented. She had the best attitude even when she was sick and going through chemo. She fought so hard. My condolences to her husband, kids and all of her family.

So sorry to hear of Carly’s passing. She was such a fun and loving person. I worked with Caryl at PMSI for many years. She was always quick to make us laugh or put us in our place when we needed it. She was the BEST! Heaven gain a good one!

My dear friend Caryl. I feel so lucky to have known such a lovely person even if briefly. 30 years ago we met in the UK when you visited Tami who was volunteering with Foxlease training centre. I was lucky enough to meet you, Richard and Tiffany when you visited Tami. Also 20 years ago we met again when my family came to SLC. I’m so glad I got to see you last week when I visited SLC again. That precious moment we shared when you commented on my travelling around the world will stay with me forever. I cannot express enough my deepest condolences to Richard, Tami, Tiffany, Alan and your grandchildren and great grandson. My heart is breaking for them all. All of my family send our love and support to your family. Rest peacefully dearest lady. You touched so many lives, more than you could ever know. Love always Your Girlguiding/Girl Scout friend Lesley and family.
