Cathy L. Adams

October 27, 1946 - April 5, 2018

Our loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away on April 5th, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Salt Lake City to Bob & Bobbie Phillips on October 27th, 1946. She graduated from St. Mary's of the Wasatch High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Seattle University. She served as the Director of Medical Records at St. Mark's Hospital for over 25 years, and then enjoyed a 2nd career as a special investigator for United States Investigative Services.

She was as dedicated and hard-working in her career, as she was kind and genuine in her family life and friendships. She will be remembered for her huge smile, her hugs, and her love of bright colors and flowers.

She is survived by her spouse of almost 50 years, Jim; her "Irish twin" brother, Chris Phillips (Nancy); her children Paul (Manessa), Christy (Brett Benson) and John; and five grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 3015 Creek Road, Cottonwood Heights.

In Loving Memory

My deep condolences and sincere regret that I had not had a chance to reconnect with Cathy in recent years. We go back a long time to the start of my career in medical records and first job at St. Mark's Hospital. I recall with fondness and admiration Cathy's commitment to family, faith and career. RIP Cathy.

Cathy was one of the first people I met in the Health Information community when I moved to SLC in 1980. Though I worked at Holy Cross she always found time to take my calls and answer questions as I adjusted to the medical record field in Utah. Christy, I believe you were my daughter Allison's 8th grade "buddy" when she was in first grade at St. Vincent School and I remember that she adored you. My deep sympathies to you all.

I remember Cathy fondly from our high school years. She was always friendly and genuine. Moving from Judge was hard but we made St. Mary's work. We saw each other infrequently in the many years since but she remained the same, always welcoming.
