Charlene Wimmer Flanary

October 30, 1949 - October 31, 2023

Our wonderful, short on stature, big on love Mother, Sister, Oma, and Friend, Charlene Wimmer Flanary passed away on October 31, 2023, with the loving support of her children, siblings, and grandchildren.

Charlene’s good humor and generous spirit touched everyone she met. Always ready for adventure, trying new restaurants, working in her yard, or a get together with family and friends. Charlene never let life’s challenges hold her back or get her down. As she always said, “this too shall pass.”

We will always remember the sound of her voice, the gentleness of her touch and we will always know we are loved by her.

Charlene was proceeded in death by her Mother (Parna Wimmer), Father (Warren Wimmer Sr.), Husband (Virgil Flanary), and Brothers (Warren “Sonny” Wimmer Jr.) (Michael Wimmer) and is survived by Children Sherri Hansen, James Bingham (Anna-Marie), Kathleen Deyo (Doug), and Karma Fernandez (Eric). Her grandchildren; Ally and Casey Hansen; Tanner, Carter, and Ashley Bingham; Dalton and Makena Willis, Katerina, Chance, Cayden, and Kendeall Fernandez; Ian, Sean and Sara Flanary. Siblings Karma Glynn, Steven Wimmer and Janalynn Memmott (Kelly); and many loved friends.

Funeral celebrations will be held at 11:00 am on November 7, 2023, at the LDS Church on 7411 South 4800 West in West Jordan, Utah with a small viewing at 10:00 am. Interment will be held at Herriman City Cemetery.

In Loving Memory

So so sorry to hear this news.  Worked with Charlene at the depot in Umatilla (she was actually my boss).  Even had lunch with her a couple times when she was visiting family in Colo Springs, after I transferred to Pueblo.  She was a sweet caring always happy person.  Never let things get her, was always well prepared at work just generally always a great person to be around and always a wonderful person to work for.

So sad to hear of Charlene's passing . She was my sweet cousin. She always had a smile and a hug. I'm sorry I can't come to her funeral. My love and support goes to her family and this sad time.

I loved Charlene so much.  She served in Relief Society with me and I learned so much from her.  Every Sunday she would ask me how I was doing. Even though I knew she wasn't feeling good herself she was always concerned for everyone else. I know family and friends are sad because we are really going to miss her but I'm so happy for her that she is home and no longer in pain.  I love you Charlene!  See you in a few years!

I am heart-broken at the loss of Charlene.  She was a good, good friend.  On that last day before her death, I asked her to "save a seat for me".  I don't know if she heard me, but I look forward to seeing her again. And I will.

Charlene will be greatly missed by us, and many! We'll miss seeing her on Sundays. We'd enjoyed her company at some neighborhood dinner groups that we'd been a part of a few years ago too. She was so caring, and gave service to others. Deepest condolences to her family, Tony and Diane Romanello
