Charles A. Dean Jr.

April 19, 1927 - June 7, 2011

CHARLES A. DEAN, JR.

1927 – 2011

Our dear “Charlie” has left us, leaving all those who loved him with an abundance of stories and beautiful memories.  He kept us laughing and touched our hearts, even through his illness.  He left a piece of his “funny” bone in each of us!

He was born in Superior, Wyoming on April 19, 1927, where he was fondly called “Sonny”.  He graduated from Superior High School and then served in the Army in Puerto Rico.  He graduated from Regis College in Denver, Colorado; employed at Hercules Aerospace from 1961-1985. Charles met and married Joanne Brophy in Ogden, Utah and were married for 56 years, until his death.  Part of the legacy that he leaves behind are his family, including 5 children, Margaret (Dan) Stireman, Mary (Dennis) Dilley, Patrick (fiance Treece) Dean, Clare (Paul) Johnson, and Christopher Paul Dean, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, along with  extended family and many beloved friends. Charlie possessed the rare quality of being able to make a fast friend of almost anyone he met.  No one will ever truly know the extent of kindness and compassion he had for so many, especially the elderly and widows, and those most vulnerable.  Only you, Dad, and God, know the secrets of where you were and who you helped when no one was watching. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Chelsea, a brother Patrick, and a sister Katherine. The family wishes to express their deepest thanks for the loving care he received from the CNA Hospice, with special thanks to Nurse Charlee and John. A mass celebrating his life will be held at St. Olaf Catholic Church, at 1800 South and Orchard Drive in Bountiful, on Friday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m., with a family visitation at St. Olaf on June 10, 6-8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation for and in behalf of the refugee families of SLC, that Charlie so fondly cherished.  Checks payable to Joanne Dean.
