Chas Andrew Keppol
March 17, 1977 - February 23, 2017
"Pinky"
"A kind man who loved everyone and was loved in turn."
On February 23rd, Chas Andrew Keppol passed away at the age of 39 from cancer. He was a father, son, brother, and uncle. He was born on March 17, 1977 to Alan and Dana Keppol in California. He grew up in Ontario, California where he attended Chaffey High School and joined the marching band.
He married his high school sweetheart on February 29, 1996 with whom he had three amazing daughters: Emily (Brandon), Rowan and Lillie. He shared his love of haunted houses and video games with them. He was a passionate, loving father to each and raised them as best he could. He would also often take his family to Disneyland and had a great, often unappreciated, sense of humor. In 2005 he brought his family to SLC, Utah.
In early 2015, he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. He did not let his diagnosis rule him and he worked to keep his life business as usual. That summer, while rock climbing in New York, he met the wonderful cancer survivor outdoor adventure support group First Descents. They became like a second family to him and were able to provide him with renewed hope for the future.
In November of 2016, Drew's health began to decline. He was in an out of the Huntsman Cancer Institute until early February 2017. There he passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Thursday. Andrew leaves behind his 3 daughters and estranged wife, parents, 2 siblings, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Even though he is gone, we will still cherish the memories we have made with him, like his birthday tradition of corned beef and cabbage.
Memorial service will be held Friday, March 3rd, from 6-8pm at the Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 S 900 E, SLC. The service will not be a marking of his passing, but a celebration of his life.
In lieu of flowers, please give to the Mountain America Credit Union memorial fund set up in his name.
