Christopher Douglas Fish

April 7, 1977 - June 28, 2025

Christopher Douglas Fish passed away unexpectedly at the age of 48.

After four years of hoping for a child, Douglas and Patricia excitedly welcomed their first child Christopher on April 7th, 1977, in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He was a very active, wild, and happy child that was curious about everything. He took great delight in finding broken items, taking them apart to discover how they worked, and putting them back together in hopes he could get them working again. A skill he would use his whole life. He also loved and excelled in baseball as a pitcher, was a star player at Hunter High School, and was even awarded a baseball scholarship to the College of Eastern Utah.

During his adult life he enjoyed working in the hospitality industry for many years taking pride in sharing his knowledge of the Salt Lake City area to tourists. His Grandfather Ed Brandis was an avid woodsman who owned 80 acres of forest and upon his death Chris received his chainsaw. So it was only natural that Chris would frequently take his summers off from the hospitality industry to join the Forestry Service Fire Crew where he found purpose in the gratitude given by the communities he served. Later on in his adult life he accepted a position with the Alta Club in Salt Lake City where he rose to the position of engineer and achieved a family like relationship with the staff, management, and even the members of this historical private club.

In the beginning of 2023 Chris was unfortunately diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and bravely underwent massive and extreme surgeries as well as long treatments of chemo and radiation to save his life. During this very difficult time his family and his work family at the Alta Club went above and beyond to support him and after a brutal battle he received the news that the cancer was no longer detected.

Chris loved to drive motorcycles and work on old junk cars by himself and with his father Douglas and had the opportunity to be part of a pit crew for a time at the Rocky Mountain Raceways. He put hot sauce on EVERYTHING, was a treasure hunter at swap meets, collected sneakers and watches, was a proud uncle, and a cat person through and through. He also even owned his own private club for a short time in Salt Lake City. A dream of his he had for a long time.

He is survived by his father Douglas, mother Patricia, step-father Clint, sisters Michelle and Jennifer, brother in law Justin, Grandmother Jean, and the two he loved most of all his niece Adyson and his nephew Colton.

His family would like to extend their gratitude to the Alta Club staff and members and to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Intermountain Hospital Center and the Utah Cancer Specialists.

Friends are invited to a memorial open house on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Millcreek, Utah.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in his memory to one or more of the following organizations that meant most to him:

Havenhelps.com
firststephouse.org
Voaut.org
Or your local animal shelter so more cats can find loving homes. He would have liked that.

I was so glad to get to know Chris. He has so many talents! And I loved his energy and his sweet face. He helped me with so many things, all my repair stuff here at the Alta club salon. And even some great suggestions and helps for family. Love him!
