Cynthia Olsen

Cindy Olsen (71) died unexpectedly on November 20th, 2024, from heart failure. The oldest of seven children of Rodney and Arla Olsen, she was born at Camp Roberts, California, and grew up in Fargo, North Dakota. The family moved to Great Falls, Montana, where she attended high school and then attended a travel school in Minnesota. When her dad was transferred with his job again, Cindy moved with the family to Salt Lake City. She worked at Sears and several other companies before taking a position at 3M Health Information Systems. She retired after an outstanding career where she took great pride in her work.

Cindy created a warm and caring home environment and was a highly involved mother in the raising of her son Trent. She was a marching band booster mom who never missed a performance or competition. Her home and dining room table were always festively decorated for every holiday and hosted meal, and she had a collection of beautiful and whimsical birdhouses.

A kind, caring and thoughtful person, Cindy always remembered family and friends on Christmas and birthdays with cards or gifts. Cindy loved traveling for 3M events and visiting family members. She treasured her friends and enjoyed lunches, dinners and shopping with them. In retirement she frequented the public library to indulge in reading books of all kinds. She was a faithful supporter of the Utah Food Bank and the Salvation Army Angel Tree Christmas Program.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Richard. She is survived by her son Trent Olsen, sisters Kathy Olsen, Jenny (George) Garcia, Edie Olsen, Ruth (Jay Schindler) Olsen, and brother Vince (Heather) Olsen, as well as nieces, nephews and numerous extended family members and dear friends
