Clara L. Reyes
August 12, 1933 - July 29, 2017
I am named Vincenta Venegas, also known as Clara Reyes. Born August 12, 1933 In El Centro, California, called the Imperial Valley. My father, "Pete", was a farmer and my mother, Bartola, was a housewife. At age five, I washed my face in the bird bath, excited to visit some friends of the family. Our Landlord thought it was the cutest thing ever. My Grandpa, Jesus, was not happy to see me or my mother nor father, so life was pretty tough. I did not have the best childhood growing up. I never made any excuses to bring it to my adult life or to my childrens' lives.
I met and married Federico E. Reyes on January 9, 1951. He was the love of may life. He was the best looking guy I had ever seen!! "Mhmm!" I was studying to be a nurse and taking care of my wonderful kids. I volunteered with many places and organizations in my life, being nominated woman of the year once! Haha. We celebrated that award. I have so many grandchildren and great grandchildren. I cannot keep track, I love them all. I have been on dialysis for over five years and did not enjoy it, but it kept me alive. Thank you for being so good to me. Be kind to each other and remember that you are a Reyes.
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 4 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM with a vigil beginning at 8:30 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 5 at 9:00 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South, Salt Lake City, where friends may call upon the family one hour prior.
In Loving Memory
My sincerest condolences. The Bible is an incredible source of comfort to help us get through very difficult periods in our lives. At Philippians 4:6,7 we learn of the wonderful privilege we have of praying to God and how he helps us in return, "Do not be anxious over anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus." God cares for us and he wants to help us. He gives us the opportunity to ask for that help through prayer and this allows us to feel peace even during very difficult periods in our lives. I"ve known Clara for many years at St Ann. I thought Clara a lovely smiling lady. I knew Fred , his son, probably about the same time my children were born. May God give Clara a speedy trip to heaven to be with all her family through Gods vision.
