Claude Lamar Mounteer

1928-2011

Dad passed away peacefully at the VA Hospital on November 29th. He was 83 years old.

Born Aug. 3rd in Blackfoot, Idaho to Percy and Olive Mounteer. He moved to Utah where he learned hard work and responsibility at a young age helping his Dad on the farm. He joined the U.S. Army in 1945 and served in World War II. He was a strong man with an iron grip, yet soft heart. He retired from the Utah State Fairgrounds in 1993.

He was a selfless, loving Brother, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

He was a great cook, and he always had a story or joke to tell.

He is preceded in death by two sons Chick and Corky; first wife Joyce; siblings Beatrice, Vardella, Erma, Pat, Bill, Bud, and Ted.

He leaves behind lifelong partner, Pat Mounteer; sister Sara Klein; brother Pete; children Toddy, Tina (Kim) Brown, Casey, Kelly (Lori), and Ken; 17 Grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service will be held Monday December 5th at 1:30 PM at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park 17111 Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale Utah, where viewing will begin at 1:00 PM. Interment to follow the services.

Special Thanks to the VA and Hospice staff for your care.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Claude Lamar Mounteer memorial fund at Wells Fargo Bank.

Dear Pat, Casey and all of the Mounteer Family, Please now that our love, thoughts and prayers are with you all in the time of "Poppas' " passing. We did not have the pleasure of knowing him for long. However, he was a gentle and kind man. He always made us feel welcome when we stopped at the house. If you need anything, please feel free to contact us. We love you.
