Clementine Njamu Sinju
January 15, 1933 - June 21, 2024
Clementine Njamu Sinju, aged 91, peacefully passed away on June 21, 2024. She was born on January 15, 1933, in Balengou, Cameroon, where her mother named her Nzoku, signifying “Time has come.” She was the daughter of Fedelis and Margaret.
Clementine grew up in Balengou, Cameroon, where she learned to count in her native dialect, this ensured that no one could deceive her with money. She ventured to Tiko to attend her brother's wedding, where fate introduced her to her late husband, Paul Sinju. Their first meeting was marked by laughter over Paul's traditional Torong attire.
In marriage, Clementine managed their finances while Paul sold beer from home. Together, they initiated the first Njangi meetings in Tiko. Clementine was devout, finding solace in morning prayers and dedicating herself to church, household chores, and farming with a hoe and cutlass. She ensured their home never lacked food, generously sharing meals with neighbors, friends, and family.
Clementine's generosity extended beyond food; she channeled her resources to church donations, hospital support, and offering loans rather than money to her children. A woman of quiet strength, she spent hours in prayer, a testament to her steadfast faith.
Clementine is survived by her daughter Magdalene Sinju Sauer (David), sons George Sinju (Stephanie), Anthony Sinju (Lydie), Margarate Ngangwa (Louis Clement), Peter Sinju, and Vincent de Paul Sinju. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Sinju, and children Mary, Michael, James, and Ernest. She leaves behind 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Clementine Nzoku Sinju will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her.
