Cody David Beckstead

August 31, 1978 - September 13, 2011

Cody David Beckstead

Our most precious son, brother and best friend passed away on September 13, 2011.  He will be missed dearly by the many who love him.

Cody was born on August 31, 1978 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Martin D. and Deborah L. Beckstead.  He graduated from Alta High the Class of ’96 and then joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served his country for 8 years. Cody was very bright and an essential part of his family’s business, Bestway Products Co.  Cody lived for the winter and enjoyed snowboarding and snowmobiling.  He had a great appreciation for the outdoors and would spend the summers hiking and camping with his girlfriend, Jade Gundry. Cody was the go-to guy for any computer-related issue and was very technically inclined.  He had a deep affection for his dog Boots, his “little buddy.” He was a tender-hearted man who genuinely cared about others and gave of himself freely to anyone in need.

He leaves behind his father and mother; his brother and best-friend Casey; Grandmother Gloria Christenson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Cody’s Life on Saturday, September 24th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.

In Loving Memory

Dearest Debbie, Marty and Casey, My heart goes out to you and your family for you loss. Just know Cody is at peace now and with his grandparents. May God bless him and your family. With all my love, Sharon

Cody is among the most interesting people I've ever met. I had a blast in his presence, and he will be greatly missed. He was a good man, a good friend, and he loved his family. Even all these years later, I still think about him all the time, and will continue to do so for years to come. My heart aches for the man we've lost. Deeply and truly sorry for the loss we all face, and for the difficult days that lie ahead. Stacy Cahoon Hughes

Marty, Debbie & Casey My heart hurts for all of you and the rest of us too. We all wish there were things to say to make you all feel better or at least a have brief understanding. There are No words that can make it better. I have to agree with the others that Cody was a special man. I have always loved him dearly. From the time he stayed with me as a child to the young man that would run to me with a hug and swing me around. He is a great man and will be missed by many. He may be gone but he will NEVER be forgotten. Know that he is at peace. With All My Love and Heart Felt Blessings.... (Aunt) Gina

The Calaway's have known Cody for a long time through our kids, Jennifer & Geoff Calaway. Our family has gotten to know him as a computers wiz and a fun person. He has always been more than willing to help us with any computer problems and cleaning supplies. Always with a smile on his face, Cody could lighten up any room. Steve and Geoff have skied and snowboarded with Cody on many occasions. We only have wonderful things to say about Cody. He was always a great kid and a good friend to Geoff. Cody and Jade went boating with us this summer. I wish we could have done more fun things together. Geoff and all of us are heartbroken. He'll especially be in our hearts as the winter sports season approaches. Our sincerely condolences goes to all your family, as well as to Jade. Steve, Patsy, Jennifer, and Geoff Calaway
