Cole William Wharton
February 20, 1991 - January 9, 2025
Our cherished son, Cole William, passed away in his sleep, January 9, 2025 at the age of 33.
Cole was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on Feb. 20, 1991. He attended The Waterford School and graduated from SLCC with an English degree. Cole had a passion for politics, he spent his younger days through his 20’s working on political campaigns. He was involved in city council, mayoral, and legislative races, as well as federal campaigns. He was especially proud of working on Terry McAuliffe’s winning Gubernatorial campaign in Virginia. He had many friends that were elected officials and lobbyists. He loved politics and politicians. Cole also loved to take road trips, especially driving the Pacific Coast Highway, which he did many times. He enjoyed being out in nature hiking and camping whether it was a forest, the mountains, or the desert. He was incredibly smart and had a wonderful sense of humor. Cole’s memories will never leave us. He had a beautiful and loving soul.
Cole leaves behind a heartbroken family that includes his parents, Blaze and Lisa Wharton. His sister Kennedy Marie Bottoms, (Brian), and his first loves, his nephew, River Bottoms, and his niece Brooklyn Bottoms. He adored being with them and they loved him also. It was heartwarming to see.
He was fortunate to have had many aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. He loved them dearly, as they did him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Blaze, (Heather Baker), and his brother, Matthew Wharton.
A viewing will be at 10:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 20 at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Blaze, Lisa & Kennedy, There is one common denominator in every memory I have of Cole and that is of a lot of laughter. He was bright, funny, kind and thoughtful. His presence elevated every event. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. You are all in my thoughts.

Cole was a sweet, lovely man with a good mind, good heart, and good soul. The world was a better place with him in it and a lesser place now. He has gone on to join his ancestors and his other loved ones. I loved him as a son and grieve this unbearable pain and loss. May God wrap his loving arms around Cole, and all of you.

When I first met Cole was where we went to HS together. He was kinda weird & awkward is what I first thought about him. All of us in that school were in one way or another. As I got to know him I got to like him. He became a really good friend. One time I was at my house with another friend. Cole called me frantic. He was at a park close by and he said some people were messing with him. At this point Cole was my good friend and I wasn’t about to put up with any of that nonsense. After me and other friends got there I fought the kid who was picking on him. After that, all of us including the bullies were hanging out together having a good time for many more hours and were all friends/acquaintances after that. That’s Cole. You might think some way about him at first. Once you get to know him though.. Well, you guys know. He was a very unique, intelligent, and just a solid friend. I’m going to miss him a lot. R.I.P brother!
