Colin Kelly Hamilton

Colin Kelly Hamilton passed away peacefully from natural causes at his home on Tuesday July 7^th, 2026 at the age of 84. The youngest of five children, he was born to Minnie (née Maxwell) and Ira Mervin Hamilton on February 9^th, 1942 in Murray, Utah. 

Growing up in a small Utah mountain town, Colin graduated from Tabiona High School in 1960 in a class of 11 students. After high school, he decided that he needed to venture out and see the world, so he joined the US Navy in 1961. He proudly served on three different cruisers over a period of four years working primarily as a radar operator. 

Colin married his true love Elizabeth Ann Jones in 1967. When tragedy struck in 1969 and they lost their first-born child, they embraced each other and never let go. They endured many ups and downs, but their enduring bond remained a constant that lasted for 59 years until her death in April 2026. No matter the difficulty, they were always there for each other. 

After being honorably discharged, Colin worked in a variety of fields. He serviced and repaired office equipment, worked as a guard in the Utah state correctional system, managed a book bindery, and was a truck driver for a freight company. Through it all, he was known by friends and neighbors alike for his passion in the garden. Each season, he cultivated an abundance of fresh produce that he willingly shared with others. 

Colin loved his family. Along with his beloved wife, he helped raise their four children while acting as pseudo-father to countless nephews, nieces, neighbors, and children’s friends. He was a kind and gentle man who was always willing to help. Whether it was fixing a bicycle, teaching someone how to repair a car, or showing a friend how to grow extraordinary vegetables, he always found the time to help. He may not have had a lot to say, but through his actions, he made it clear that he genuinely cared for you. 

Colin is survived by his four children, Jenifer Hamilton, Danial Hamilton, Carin Hardman (Dylan) Crystal Ince (Corby), ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Elizabeth, his wife of 59 years, his parents, brothers Keith, Bobby, and Niel, sister Sharon Lewis, daughter KelliAnn, and nephew Gregory Jones. 

Colin’s life was not one that was filled with fanfare, and he wanted it that way. He far more appreciated the little things in life. Through his countless small kindnesses, he leaves behind a legacy of gentleness, warmth, and devotion that will live on in all those who knew him. 

A Celebration of Life for Colin and Elizabeth will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East. Guests are encouraged to use the parking and entrance on the north side of the building.
