Colleen Fisher Carter

Colleen Fisher Carter died peacefully the morning of September 16, 2017. She was born March 19, 1935, to Marlow Lyon and Leone Parrish Fisher, in Bingham, UT. Her family moved to Centerville, UT, when she was 2. She attended Centerville Elementary, South Davis Junior High and Davis High School. She married Don Falkner and had 5 children: Lynn (Michaela), Ann (John), Mark (Sidnee), Dane (Mary Jo) and Misty. They divorced. She later married Alvie Carter and had one son,
Chris (Leasa).
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, brother Glen and
grandson Samuel Falkner. She is survived by her husband, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her siblings; Sylvia Jutila (George), Paul (Ruth), Bruce, George (Ruth Ann) and most loyal friend, her dog, Kita.
Colleen was known for her generosity and her fearless and frank approach to life. Her careers included time as a Registered Nurse, managing properties and businesses she owned, and running her own antique shop, and tropical sh store where her favorite pet was an octopus. Her home and her heart were always lled with animals. She lled her yard with plants and ponds that would attract butter ies and nurtured beehives for several years before it was in vogue. She was an accomplished musician and artist. Her love for nature was re ected in her landscape oil paintings.
Her Catholic faith brought her much comfort and ful llment especially as her condition deteriorated over the last year. She clearly stated she could not wait to "sing with the choirs of angels". Listen closely because in the stillness of the night, in the colors of a sunset, in the eyes of a person in need you will hear her spirit ring forth.
Should Colleen be remembered for one trait it would be her acceptance of people. She did not see race, religion or walk of life. She lived with compassion and tolerance and would hope we would keep her legacy alive.
Friends are invited to celebrate Colleen's life on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 6:30 until 8:30 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT. She will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
