Connie (Day) Swindell
January 1, 1952 - January 28, 2016
Connie (Day) Swindell, age 64, passed away, too soon, from heart failure on January, 28th at her home in Salt Lake City.
Born in Cascade, ID, on January 1st, 1952, she was the daughter of Rex and Barbara (Knapton) Day. She attended Mountain Home High School, where she was a cheerleader, Homecoming Queen, and always on the cutting edge of fashion. After graduating, she married David Swindell (deceased, 2011), owned and operated her in-house daycare, and raised her two young daughters.
In early adulthood, Connie pressed into her faith at Central Assembly Church, in Boise. She was impassioned and committed to sending her daughters to private Christian schooling so they would be surrounded by the values she so strongly believed in.
Early on, Connie was instilled with a love for adventure. She enjoyed new and familiar places. The Idaho Mountains, Yellowstone, Park City, and Hawaii were among her favorite travel spots. Most of all she loved visiting family and friends. Time spent watching Utes' football, shopping, gardening, or savoring a delicious dessert were always on her short-list of things to do. And, throughout her life she cherished her pets-both cats and dogs.
Connie was tender, caring, and giving; she did not have a selfish bone in her body-never turning away anyone in need. She loved a good laugh and always encouraged her girls and grandsons to be a little goofy. She was brave and hopeful, and never doubted God's love for her.
She adored her family and is survived by her parents Rex and Barbara Day; her daughters Kelli (Brian) Grunerud, and Brandi Swindell; her sister Chris (Rob) Patrick; her grandsons Alex, and Jaxon; and her Swindell family, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The last 14 years Connie lived in Salt Lake City near her oldest daughter. The family would like to thank her friends and neighbors that knew and loved her in Utah, especially her VMH/Masters Program family.
The funeral service will be held Friday, February 12th at 2:00pm at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise, ID. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made at StantonHealthcare.org (a women's clinic) or your local pet rescue.
