Corydon James Sylvester

March 5, 1944 - April 23, 2016

Butch was a kind, thoughtful, loving and courageous father, grandfather and friend.
Butch Sylvester passed peacefully from this life April 23, 2016 surrounded by loved ones after a sudden decline in his health.
Butch battled Multiple Sclerosis for 38 years and did it without complaint, with courage, a sense of humor and the unwavering support of his family, friends and home health care aids. He was truly inspirational; he did anything he could to help and support the people around him and expected nothing in return.
Butch was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Granite High School, Class of 1962.
Butch had a brilliant mechanical and artistic mind and was a mastered craftsman. Welding, mechanical design, cars and motorcycles were his passion.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents and brother. Butch is survived by his sister Sue Delongpre; his five children Deven (Lisa), Cory, Bowen, Andrea (Thomas) and Willie; his fifteen grandchildren Samantha, Abigayle, Hannah, Jack, Britney, Brandon, Alyssa, Kylie, Tessla, Bradon, Mason, Devon, Bowen, Marshall, and Kalihi; dear friend and companion Cindy Dixon and her children and grandchildren; and Charleen Sylvester Young, his prior wife and partner of 26 years. We all love him very much and he will be greatly missed by all.
His family would like to give special thanks to St. Mark's Hospital- Dr. Thorne and staff, the ICU nursing staff that took great care of him and his home health care facilities that supported our father for many years. He was able to spend his years in the comfort of his own home and could not have done it without the support of these caring individuals who grew to love him and appreciate his keen sense of humor and slight impatience. Thank you very much.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that a donation be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Utah at the following address: http://www.nationalmssociety.org/Chapters/UTU/Donate or by check to the following address:

In Loving Memory

So sad to hear of Butch's passing. All our best thoughts and wishes to his family. I remember him fondly as one of my older brother's best and bigger than life friends while growing up on Lake Circle. Jim and I have talked about Butch several times over the years. Once again, all our best.
