Dagny Charlotte Seljaas Healey
September 30, 1940 - December 4, 2015
Dagny Charlotte Seljaas Healey passed away in her home on December 4, 2015 due to natural causes. She was born on September 30, 1940 on the island of Hiso, overlooking the Arendal Harbor in Norway. The eldest of three to Tobias Andreas Seljaas and Selma Pauline Bergstedt. In 1948 the family immigrated to Utah where they made their home (but she never forgave her mother for taking her out of paradise.). She graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors in Sociology and worked as a social worker for several decades. She met and married Ronald L. Healey in 1970; later divorced.
She volunteered with the Utah AIDS Foundation and homeless youth. Always a caretaker for the underdogs, motivated by indignance to all social injustice. She is considered a best friend by many. She will be remembered fondly by the ladies who lunch and the neighbors who looked after her as well as her family.
She is survived by her brother Helge Seljaas; her daughter Katharine (Andrew) Dalton; stepchildren Russell (River) Healey, Jennifer (Shawn) Andreasen; and six grandchildren.
She was recently preceded in death by her brother Karl Seljaas.
A celebration of Dagny's life will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 6PM to 8PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Please use the complimentary valet provided on the north side of the building. Online condolences may be offered and a tribute slideshow may be viewed at www.starksfuneral.com

In Loving Memory
One of the most beautiful lights in this world has gone out. Dagny will be sorely missed. She has been a friend ally, and mother figure to me for over twenty years. Always there and supportive for anyone ostracized, cast out or turned away. She was truly a wonderful spirit.
