Dale Roy Hooton

November 1, 1957 - November 15, 2021

Papa: The Man, The Myth, The Legend. What do you say about the man with the biggest heart and the biggest personality to match? Dale Roy Hooton was born on November 1, 1957 and has been the life of the party ever since. He was boisterous, charismatic, funny, handsome, loving, strong, loyal and full of life.  He was an amazing storyteller, a hard worker and gave the absolute best hugs.  He made everything more fun, went the extra mile to make everyone feel special and brought joy and light to every occasion. He enjoyed family vacations, parties and holidays and we will cherish those memories with him forever. He worked with the power company, first as a meter reader and then as a lineman, for 45 years. Dale loved the mountains and outdoor activities like camping and fishing but equally enjoyed being at the beach and spending the day scuba diving. He was outgoing and adventurous but was most happy at home with his family. He was an incredible cook and loved preparing meals just to watch his friends and family enjoy them. He loved working in the yard, tickling and wrestling the little ones, watching the Raiders and soccer and subjecting his family to the newest ghost hunting show or sci-fi movie. He enjoyed Halloween and would turn his entire basement into a haunted house every Halloween season. Dale was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin but his most cherished title was most definitely Papa. He was a proud family man and a pillar in the lives around him. Being a Papa to his children and grandchildren was the greatest joy of his life and his legacy will live on within them forever. So this is not goodbye, Papa. Let’s just say we’ll see you soon.

Dale is survived by his loving wife Zoe (Tolman); parents LeRoy and Georgeann “Ann”; siblings LeAnne Odekirk (Mark, deceased) and Lee; daughter Kristina Ghiloni (Enrico); sons Derrek (Jessica) and Trevor (Amanda); stepdaughter Staci Scripter (Jared) and 5 grandchildren (soon to be 6 in March 2022).

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor 3651 South 900 East, Millcreek, UT 84106.
