David E. Widner
July 23, 1947 - May 24, 2015
David Eugene Widner was born on July 23, 1947, in Spokane, Washington, to Donald Eugene and Janet Morrow Widner. He spent an idyllic childhood as the middle child (really), surrounded by his own cowboy patrol of 30 close cousins; he was the peacemaker.
He graduated from Oregon State University where he met his true companion, Kristine Marie Eskelson. They married on September 13, 1969, in a ceremony on the upper Weber River, east of Oakley. She survives him. David passed away on May 24, 2015, after years of debilitating illnesses that he withstood with great courage and strength.
He was in the concrete supply industry in Salt Lake and Park City. David's customers respected him as knowledgeable, fair and trustworthy. His colleagues knew him as kind, strong and compassionate. He will be missed.
David raised three loving sons who survive him: Andrew (Tracy) of Salt Lake City, Judson of Park City, Alex (Sara Redman) of Salt Lake City; granddaughter Marley Beshore of Bloomsburg, PA; and Goddaughter Taylor Rigby of Norman, OK. Additionally, he is survived by sister Renee Smith (Bill) of Whidbey Island, WA; brother Randy Widner of Portland, OR; loving sisters-and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and that small army of cousins. He loved his family dearly.
The family wishes to thank those who gave him loving, skilled care over the last ten months. You are truly appreciated.
Memorial service will be held Sunday, May 31, 2015, 5:00 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, visiting afterward. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Envision Utah for a bright future now and for those yet to love living here.
In Loving Memory
Oh, Kris, I was so sorry to read of your loss. I tried to find you a couple of times at St. Mark's during Dave's admissions, as I worked there. It has been a long time since Junior League and our boys being little tykes. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Maybe we can get together for lunch some time. Love, Denise
