David Fei

December 8, 1941 - April 15, 2019

David Fei, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away surrounded by his family on April 15, 2019. He was born on December 8, 1941 in Nanking, China and grew up in Taipei, Taiwan.

During his time in Taiwan he worked as a tailor and he worked for China Airlines before he immigrated to the United States in 1980 with his wife Lee and his two children Alice and Henry.

The family spent time in Birmingham, Alabama and Boulder, Colorado, before finally settling in Salt Lake City, Utah. David opened David's Kitchen in 1984 and his wife and son operate it today.

David loved his restaurant and his customers. When not running the restaurant he enjoyed a great meal either at a local restaurant or a home cooked by his wife Lee, a great cocktail and weekend trips to Wendover. His contagious smile, generosity, and ability to tell amazing stories will be greatly missed by all.

He leaves behind his wife Lee, daughter Alice (Mike), son Henry (Amber), and grandson Miles along with his brother Jack, and sisters Nancy and Lily, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Osmond Senior Living Memory Care for their kindness and support while our father was in their care.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate his life on Saturday, April 20, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building.

David, thanks for all the wonderful years getting to know you and your wonderful family. Our kids grew up on your fabulous food and to this day when they are in town your place is where they want to go first. It’s been fun watching Your kids grow into wonderful people. I can remember when I first met your lovely wife Lee and she struggled with her English and was shy. She has blossomed into a confident business women. Her and Henry will be able to carryon this fabulous business you and the family were able to build over the years. You will be missed. Until we meet again Love Stephen & Cecile

Lee and Henry, I am so sorry and saddened for your loss. I will pray for you and your family. David was a great man and I considered him a friend. I reflect back over the past 23 years and remember many wonderful great times at both the old and new restaurant. (Best pot stickers on Earth). David would always greet me with a warm smile and friendly hand shake. I will miss my friend David very much! I know many people and faiths view life after death differently—but I truly believe and have faith you will see David again in the after life. Your friend, Dave Nielson (Low Book Sales)

I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Please accept my sincere condolences. I personally know the loss of a loved one, and the pain can seem overwhelming. However, I found comfort in the Bible's promise for the future (Acts 24:15) I hope this helps bring some comfort in this time of sorrow.
