David O. Vialpando
April 6, 1943 - February 17, 2017
David passed away peacefully February 17, 2017 surrounded by his family.
He was born April 6, 1943 to Eva and Fermin Vialpando in Salt Lake City. After three years of service in the U.S. Army, he continued to serve his country for 20 years in the Army National Guard. He loved the open road and spent 40 plus years of his life truckdriving. In his earlier years he enjoyed boxing. He also loved oldies music, shooting the breeze with family during surprise visits, and taking his grandkids for slurpees. David was very generous and always had a pocketful of dollar bills to present to his nieces, nephews and grandkids. He was rough around the edges but had a big heart.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Alice Vialpando; children Jennifer (Rod) Chidester, Lesley Anne (Garry) Wellisch, Laura Mardsen, Sherry Hernandez, David Vialpando Jr., Juanita Vialpando; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, sister Maryann Vialpando and nephew Tim Herrera.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, where complimentary valet parking will be provided on the north side of the building. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM, also at Starks Funeral Parlor. Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Ave. & "T" Street.
