David Omar Hansen
May 9, 1977 - April 4, 2023
The center of our universe fell away when Dave collapsed and died suddenly on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
David Omar Hansen was born to Craig and Patricia Hansen of Springville, Utah on May 9, 1977. His education began at Melton Primary School in Woodbridge, England where his family was living while his father served in the US Air Force. Following their return to the states three years later, he attended Sage Creek Elementary and graduated from Springville High School. Dave made a return to England during college and attended two semesters abroad at Derby University in England before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Utah.
Dave spent his career as an esteemed Senior Software Engineer. His work included designing, creating, and mentoring in the field and he took great pride in having been with the Metastock family for over 20 years.
In his early years Dave enjoyed skiing, snowboarding, and water sports with his family. He found skateboarding at a young age and loved it through his adult years, having demolished many skateboards along the way. Over the course of the past decade he truly devoted himself to Qigong and meditation, never missing a day of practice regardless of where he happened to be while traveling throughout the world. No one worked harder at mental and physical wellness than Dave.
In many ways Dave’s life started anew when he met and married his love, Kathrine, in 2014. Charlotte came along in 2015 and together they created a tight knit crew of three (six if you include the animals). His family packed-in a lifetime of adventure, often with baby Charlotte strapped to his chest as the trio explored far flung places such as Croatia, Italy, Jamaica, and nearly every corner of Mexico. They often returned to England to visit his dear Aunt Raquel and Uncles Richard & Raymond. Dave embraced fatherhood with zeal and was truly a devoted best friend to both his wife and daughter. Kathrine and Charlotte will be forever grateful for the many memories made with friends and family throughout the world.
Dave was the gentlest person and every pet in the house knew it, too. He always had one of his sweet animals by his side, especially while on regular hikes through the local foothills.
He is survived by his loving wife Kathrine, their adorable daughter Charlotte, his stepdaughter Dupree, his parents: Craig and Patricia Hansen, and his three siblings: Lara Caviness, Carl Hansen (Lorilee), and Ian Hansen. He also leaves behind many adoring nieces and nephews who brought out his silly side.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 6-8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East. This is an open house, so please feel free to come and go as you please. We kindly ask that children under 7 remain at home (aside from infants in arms) and guests utilize the entrance at the north side of the building. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local animal shelter (or Best Friends Animal Society – https://bestfriends.org/).

There are no words to express how very sorry I am to hear of this tragic loss. All I can say is I hold you and Charlotte in my heart, and prayers for your peace and comfort in the days to come. I remember the beautiful day of your wedding, and how happy we all were for you both. And then came Charlotte and everything seemed perfect. This is so unexpected and so unimaginable. We are here for you any way we can be. I love you Katie and Charlotte. Dave was such a sweet guy. It's so unreal. ❤️❤️

Dear Pat & Craig, I am so sorry to read of the untimely passing of your amazing son. It does seem he may have put more joyfulness into his short life than many do with decades more. May "God be with you 'til you meet again!"
