Dean G. Mannos

October 8, 1948 - December 11, 2024

Our beloved father, husband, and Papou, Dean Mannos, passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2024.
Dean was born on October 8, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at Holy Cross Hospital. He grew up surrounded by a large, close- knit Greek family, a multitude of cousins, and an abundance of friends who became like family.

Dean was always the life of the party, and his vibrant personality touched everyone who knew him. He attended Westminster College, where he was a proud member of the ski team and earned a bachelor’s degree in business management.

In 1974, Dean married the love of his life, his best friend and partner in all things, Gail. Together, they shared 50 years of love, laughter, and adventures. Dean was best known for his passions: fast cars, classic rock, fine scotch, skiing, golf, and cooking—particularly the kind of meals that brought everyone together. Above all, though, Dean’s world revolved around his family. He cherished his wife, daughters, granddaughters, and his beloved Corvette, “Baby.” His granddaughters were often found giggling at his “old man” antics, while his daughters and Gail couldn’t help but roll their eyes at his colorful stories and quick-witted one-liners.

A proud Greek man, Dean had a tender heart and an unshakable devotion to his family. His love for life and those he cherished was immeasurable.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and George Mannos, and his brother, George Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Gail Mannos; daughters Anna Mannos (Garrett Rosenthal) and Mary (Jason) Ellis; his sister Kathy Mannos (Les) Lake; his cherished granddaughters, Anabelle and Madeline Ellis, Alison and Tessa Crabtree; and countless extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Turn Community Services of Utah, a cause close to Dean’s heart, at https://turncommunityservices.org

Dean’s family invites all to raise a glass of fine scotch in celebration of his beautiful legacy, and to remember the joy,
humor, and love he shared with us all.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 18th from 5:00PM until 7:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, where a Trisagion will begin at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 19th at 11:00 AM at Prophet Elias Church, 5335 S Highland Dr, Holladay, UT. Interment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
