Debbie Lyn Leyer

November 2, 1959 - December 9, 2025

Debbie Lyn (Barlow) Leyer, 66, passed away in Sandy, Utah. She was born on November 2, 1959, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and grew up in Sandy, where she spent most of her life close to the people and places she knew best.

Debbie was the beloved mother to April Blank, Amber Sanchez, Andrew Sanchez, and Sabrina Sanchez. She is survived by her mother, Marilyn (Jenkins) Barlow, and her siblings, Ken and Christina. She was preceded in death by her father, Newell “Lynn” Barlow, and her brother, Russell.

Debbie was the proud grandmother to Tayler, Coen, Drayden, and Emery. Although life circumstances created distance in later years, Debbie loved and adored her grandchildren deeply.  Her family knows she carried them in her heart always, celebrating them in her own way and loving them without limit.

Debbie was incredibly smart, unapologetically quirky, and wonderfully weird in a way that was entirely her own. Her humor was goofy, unexpected, and often arrived at moments no one saw coming. She didn’t try to smooth herself out to fit a room; she showed up exactly as she was.

She had a special gift for making ordinary moments feel magical, especially for her children. Birthdays and Christmases were something she poured herself into, even when times were hard, creating traditions, surprises, and warmth that her family will carry with them forever.

Debbie was a devoted animal lover and shared her home with two cherished cats who brought her comfort and companionship.

In later years, Debbie’s world grew quieter, but her love never did.  She always loved loudly and unmistakably, and that love will never fade.  The joyful light she carried throughout her life remains in the memories she created and the people she loved.  Her family chooses to remember, and invites others to remember, the loving, vibrant woman she was in her truest form: full of heart, humor, intelligence, generosity, and childlike joy.

Debbie will be cremated, and services will be held at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 S 900 E, Millcreek, UT on Tuesday, January 6th from 6pm-8pm. Guests are encouraged to use the parking and entrance on the north side of the building.

I can’t get over how sad I feel that you’re gone. Remembering all the times we shared with our kids when they were growing up. We had a lot of good times. We also had some bad times. I will always love you? You were my big sister and you were always there for me when growing up. Your laughter was the BEST EVER. I can hear it embedded in my head. Makes me smile when thinking about it. I love you Debbie, thanks for the many years of memories. Love your little sister Chris.
