Dennis A. Dutson
January 30, 1951 - July 23, 2026
Dennis passed away on July 23, 2026 after a sudden cancer diagnosis.
He was born on January 30, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arnell Dutson and Melba Dutson Winegar. Dennis met Jack Barfield in 1984 in Jordan Park. The two were married at the County Complex on December 26, 2013 and the two had a beautiful marriage until his passing. After 911, Dennis became a TSA agent and served at the Salt Lake City Airport for 25 years. His love and passion was music and he was a deejay for the local gay bars. He deeply enjoyed entertaining others at bars and drag shows. At the airport he was known as Disco Dutson.
In addition to his husband, he is survived by two sisters, Janna Lee and Sandy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewings will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and Thursday, July 30 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at Starks Funeral Parlor 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT. Graveside service will follow the viewing on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Mount Olivet, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City.

First my condolences to you, Jack for being his loyal partner all these years. I send my love. My little brother was a kind and caring person who was always pleasant to be around and had a quick dry wit that was so infectious and made everyone laugh. I will miss him as I have these past years, not being able to see him. I’ve always loved him and he and I bonded through the turmoil we endured through our childhood. God bless him and I’m grateful that he was my brother.

Jack, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I had no idea y'all had married, but I am glad y'all had each other. My Uncle was the most awesome man, and love him deeply ( I always thought I was his favorite lol) He made my childhood and a significant part of my adulthood more joyful. Letting a teen hang at his pad, and making me cassettes of my favorite music. You are in my prayers, God Bless. I miss him deeply.

Jack .... I am so sorry for your loss. You were an amazing husband to my Uncle, and I thank you for that. My Uncle meant everything in the world to me, I sought him all my life for love, sanctuary, and our common love of music. He gave me so much when I was young, and he is dear to my heart.
