Diane Dalton

October 9, 1944 - January 27, 2025

Born October 9th, 1944, in SLC, UT, to parents Ralph E Malone and Phyllis Duncombe Malone. She was one of 5 children and enjoyed a special bond with her twin brother, Don.

She graduated from South High in SLC, UT, and attended 2 years at the University of Phoenix. She enjoyed a very long and successful professional career at Phillips Petroleum. She received multiple promotions and awards and became a general manager for stores in Utah and Wyoming. This was a remarkable accomplishment for a woman during her time.

She had countless interests and hobbies. She loved boating, camping, and vacationing with her family – and anything sweet! Known for her phenomenal sugar cookies, she passed on the proper way to make them, ensuring the tradition was done with pure perfection. Despite this, she was never a cookie-cutter woman and had a personality and spirit all her own. She was never satisfied with fitting inside the mold. With her sharp and sassy wit and prestigious career accomplishments, she disregarded boundaries and strove for all things extraordinary.

The greatest joys in her life were her daughter, four grandchildren, and dog, Jasper.  Family was her highest priority. Diane took an early retirement so she could have an active role in her grandchildren’s lives while helping her daughter pursue her professional ambitions. She was naturally generous, always paying her part and treating everyone fairly. She imparted her wisdom and wit to those she loved.

She enjoyed remarkable health all her life but faced challenges with her memory in her final years. She will be deeply missed, yet we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace. Finally, Diane can reminisce on all of those precious memories once again.

She is survived by her beautiful daughter Trish Ostler (Rob) and grandchildren Riley, Wyatt, Billy, and J.J., and her three siblings, Mike Malone (Lana), Don Malone (Lee), and Tom Malone. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph E Malone and Phyllis Duncombe Malone, and sister, Marie Malone.

We sincerely thank Rachel Havea and her fantastic family for their exceptional, tireless, and loving care. Their kindness and dedication provided the highest quality of life, offering comfort and peace as she transitioned at the end of her life.

A celebration of life will be on Monday, February 3rd, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Stark Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of building.

In Loving Memory

Diane was such a kind woman and she was so nice to me ever since I met JJ in 2013 she always made sure to ask me how my day was when I went over to hang out with JJ and I’m so glad that I was able to know her. I will miss her so much.

I met Diane when we worked together. She was friendly, interesting and possessed with a great sense of humor. She invited my family & me to First Baptist Church and we will be forever grateful. We lost touch in our latter years which I regret. She’s now with her beloved parents. Rest in peace old friend.
