Diane G. Raine
July 3, 1937 – December 14, 2014
Diane G. Raine, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and extraordinary friend passed away unexpectedly at Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City on Sunday, December 14, 2014 following surgery.
Diane was born to ME "Finn" and Mildred Gibbs in Brigham City, Utah. She grew up in Harper Ward and graduated from Box Elder High School where she met Robert H. McCabe. They married in August 1955. They made their home in Brigham City where they raised their children Mechelle and Tyler. Robert and Diane spent many years skiing and boating with their young family. Robert passed away in July 1975. Subsequently, she married Lionel Erickson, and later Robert Raine. Diane worked for Mountain Bell Telephone/AT&T as a sales representative and received many awards. She was a Mary Kay consultant for 30 years and enjoyed her large clientele.
She was an avid bridge player, golfer, and had hidden talents as a pianist and seamstress. She was a member of the Brigham City Golf Club, Civic Club, Ladies Golf Association, and Co-President of the Ladies Association.
Diane enjoyed spending time with family and cherished her children and grandchildren. She possessed a generous heart and gained numerous sincere friendships.
She was a role model for many, inspiring all to enjoy life and family. She was a true lady with a quick wit and a gregarious personality who exemplified integrity, dignity, wisdom, and class. These virtues are not laid to rest, but remain her living memory. All who knew her would say it was an honor and privilege to love her.
She leaves behind her daughter Mechelle and Clark Coleman; son Dr. Tyler and Josel McCabe; four grandchildren Brandon Ellis, Monica and Jacob Nielsen, and Madison and Jentre McCabe; step-grandchildren Austin and Karsten Card; four great grandchildren; and sister Ila and David Shumway. She also was preceded in death by her parents and late husband Robert Raine.
At her request, a Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, on Saturday, December 20th, 1:00 to 3:00pm where complimentary valet parking will be provided on the north side of the building.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to Huntsman Cancer Institute (https://donate.huntsmancancer.org/2014-general-donation) to support cancer research.
In Loving Memory
My heart goes out to your family for your loss. Diane was such a special, loving, beautiful person. I will always have such warm memories of her.
