Diane Moulton Keller

July 27, 1948 - August 28, 2023

Diane Moulton Keller was a good time.

Her superpower was finding the spark of fun, silly and mischief in a person or inappropriate situation— say… a funeral, and stoking it to full blown flame of uncontrollable laughter.

She stormed into this world as well: Born July 27th, 1948 and damn near killed both her and her mom, Glenna as she was the first c-section in Heber Valley.

Little Diane was an elite athlete from the start.  The daughter of Dean and Glenna (Duke) Moulton, she sprinted, climbed, biked, flipped and beat the boys at ball. She settled on cheerleader, but we know if they’d have let girls play, she’d have dominated in sport in college.

As a true Duke of Heber, she delighted in cooking up plots to slightly torment her little brothers, Allan, Steve and the townsfolk with her devious practical jokes.

She met her soul mate, Tom Keller when he moved to Heber City and they flirted in the halls of Wasatch High while dating other people, until finally making it official. They lit each other’s flame from the start.

She attended UTT (then Dixie College) and then got hitched October 6th, 1967. She worked Tom through grad school and they laughed, danced and mean practical joked their way to four kids together; they lived eight years in Montana, then settled into Sandy and South Jordan, Utah.

She fell hard in the 80’s for tennis and adored competing with her tennis ladies, with whom she won many tourneys and made Nationals at 4.0 & 4.5 rank.

She lived for the outdoors, loved hiking adventures with Tom, and camped their way through the Western US in their pop-up trailer.

She loved all her cousins, and kept many friends for life. She created whimsical garden stones which adorned everyone’s homes that she loved and her garden was a work of art.

She raised us happy, active, and free to roam. She was a genius-level mom that way! Diane was the fun factor in any environment, even at her job as floor manager at UPS for 20 yrs. Even… as the ravages of Alzheimer’s Disease took hold WAY too young at 65. She fought for 10 years.

We loved her fiercely and she loved us as fiercely and it was so hard to let her go.  But it was time to finally escape her care center, The Ridge, this one last time – over the fence and out to hike her beloved Mount Timpanogos — all the way to the peak this time.

Diane is survived by husband Tom Keller, children J.D. (Melanie) Keller; Amy (Mike) Keller-Bills; Kristy (James) Willhite; Kimberly (Chris) Rowland. Brother Steve (Charice) Moulton; her many dear cousins, (Rae, like a sister); 11 grandkids; nieces & nephews.

Preceded in death by parents Dean and Glenna (Duke) Moulton and brother Allan (Wendy) Moulton.

Deep gratitude to the entire staff at The Ridge in Cottonwood, & Hospice, for caring for Diane with humor, patience, & love.

A Celebration of life will be on Thursday September 7, 2023 from 6-8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located at the north side of the building.

A funeral service will be on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Starks Funeral Parlor. There will be an open mic opportunity to share stories of Diane at her funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, well, she loved them so bring some! And please consider a donation in her name to End Alzheimer’s Disease.

Dear friends and family,  My heart is broken with the loss of this amazing and wonderful friend.  We were school friends from gradeschool through highschool and my love for her will never be forgotten.  She filled my life with happiness, joy, giggles, fun, beauty, caring, and friendship for many years.  She was a special one. This video of her life shows her love for Tom, their children,  grandchildren, parents, siblings, and many others. This is the sweetest tribute I can think of.  She made her mark in this life with her joyful and loving heart. My love to each of you and may you forever feel of her love for you!  Our memories will forever bring us the happiness that she has taught us.  I am grateful for her life as it touched mine in the sweetest ways ever.  I will always love her.  Thank you for your life, my darling and special friend Diane. Being across the street neighbors with Diane was such a pleasure.  She was always dropping by to show something, bring a gift, talk about the yard or tell us to look at the moon.  Always with a laugh or a story.  She was so full of life and enthusiasm, and it always brightened your day.  Later, after her illness, she would sometimes come by multiple times the same day for the same thing!  But that was great too.  We have missed having her as our favorite neighbor and a great friend.  Good journey Diane, we will miss you!
