Dolores Maria Baca Trujillo
September 20, 1950 - July 18, 2026
Saturday July 18th, just moments after the sky opened up the heavens for her, our beloved Mom took her last breath.
She was born in Santa Fe New Mexico on September 20th 1950 to Corinne Baca and was raised by her Grandparents Felipita and Romeo Baca.
Growing up with her grandparents she understood the importance of hard work at a young age but was grateful for all of the lessons they taught her.
She learned to cook at just 10 years old and as an adult it became one of her most favorite things in life. She loved to feed her family and friends and made the most delicious meals.
As a teenager she attended Santa Fe High School and she would tell us about her chores and how she would finish them as quickly as she could so she could go hang out in old town Santa Fe or buy a new record to listen to in her bedroom. She loved listening to oldies and had many favorite songs.
She married Robert Gonzales (ex-husband) when she was 19 and they had four children together. She worked as a nurses aide for many years but spent most of her career as a machine operator. She met the love of her life Joseph Trujillo in 1989 and spent the last 36 years growing old and building a family together.
Her family was her pride and joy and her grandchildren meant everything to her. She would always have a smile on her face when they came around or would call her. They made her so happy.
She made many friends over the years and she welcomed everyone into her life and into her home. She would always say “my extra grandkids”, because all of the kids around her were her grandchildren and she was everyone’s Grandma D.
She was diagnosed with rheumatoid disease in 1997 at 47 years old and it ended up changing her whole life. Through all of the beauty, there was pain. There were so many surgeries, tests, needles, hospital stays, medications and so much pain, but through it all she would still stand strong for all of us. It finally became too much.
She will always be the matriarch of our family. The one who held us up strong. We find peace in knowing she is no longer hurting and will never forget all of the things she taught us and how she cared for us.
We love you!
She is preceded in death by her parents, and grandparents, a special extra Mom and Dad (Gonzales), Brothers Raymond Lovato, Craig Miera, John Miera, Lawrence Miera, and her stepdaughter Tina.
She is survived by her loving husband Joseph, and by her children Lanette (Steve) Martinez, Bobby Gonzales, Lorilee (Kelly) Mounteer, and Denny (Trina) Gonzales. Step children, Joseph, Anthony (Alisha), Crystal, Sylvia, and a cherished bonus son Manolo Espinoza. Sisters Doris (Jesus) Martinez, Debbie Miera, and a special “sister” Corine Ellis. 24 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and many, many “extras”.
A viewing will be on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the parking on the north side of the building. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 10:00 am at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park Chapel, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale. There will be a viewing one hour prior to her service. She will be laid to rest following the service.
Our family would like to thank St. Mark’s Hospital, Granger Medical Clinic and A Plus Home Health for all of their care.
Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Believe in God, believe also in me…and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also.
-John 14:1-3.

My deepest condolences to Joe, Lanette, Bobby, Lori, Denny and their families. Your Mom was the absolute best and I feel blessed that her and I became friends. I’ll always cherish our talks from years ago at family gatherings. Although she’s not here physically, she’ll always be with you all. Love and prayers! ♥️🙏🏻
