Dolores Maureen Farnsworth Card

May 11, 1937 - October 28, 2013

Dolores Maureen Farnsworth Card, age 76, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Maureen was born May 11, 1937, to Kenneth Eugene Farnsworth, and Florence Jean Moody Farnsworth. Maureen was born with a beautiful singing voice, a gift that she brought with her from heaven. She was a child prodigy, and sang all over the Salt Lake area from an early age. At the age of 14-15 she was a regular on the Eugene Jelesnik talent showcase. As a youth, after receiving a special award, Maureen had the opportunity to sing for the US Air force troops in Arizona.

She graduated from Granite High school in 1956, and attended the University of Utah studying music. She married David Cyril Curtis in 1959 (later divorced). Together they had four children, Julie, David Jr., Daniel, and Jennifer. Maureen married Don Card in 1997. Both Don, and her first husband David were pianists, and enjoyed accompanying her when she sang.

Maureen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and used her musical talent to serve in the church. She especially loved serving as Primary chorister, teaching children to love the Primary songs and hymns. Maureen had a special love for little children and a gift for getting them to listen and obey without ever raising her voice. In her senior years, Maureen taught at Montessori school. Maureen also enjoyed entertaining the elderly and performed with her family at care centers throughout the Salt Lake area.
Maureen is survived by her husband Don, siblings Gloria Joan, Kenneth Eugene Jr., and A. Stephen; and also her children, Julie Maureen, David Cyril Jr., Daniel John, and Jennifer Lynn. Maureen is also survived by eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Friday, November 1, 2013 at Stark's Funeral Parlor, 3651 S. 900 E., Salt Lake City, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 11:00 am, at the Big Cottonwood 10th Ward Chapel, 4930 S. 1665 E., Holladay.
