Dorothy Folland Evans
January 19, 1917 - March 13, 2016
Born in Salt Lake City, UT to Frank J. Folland and Agnes (Pat) Pringle. Passed away at Cottonwood Place Assisted Living, Holladay on March 13, 2016. She was 99 years old.
Growing up Dorothy spent countless hours at her father's business, Sixth Avenue Folland Drug. Graduated from East High School. Married Curtis David Evans on September 15, 1934.
Dorothy was an icon to everyone who knew her. She acquired a taste for golf from her father who belonged to the Ft Douglas Country Club. Launched her golf career at age 35 at Meadow Brook Golf Course and placed in several City Parks tournaments. Joined Oakridge Country Club in 1960 and then Hidden Valley Country Club in 1962 where she played A Team in the women's association, winning several honors including 1st place Club Championship in 1988. Dorothy achieved the ultimate Hole in One at Hidden Valley at the age of 87. Her love of the game continued through her 95th year. Dorothy never lacked for social activities. Winters were spent at the bowling alley and playing bridge with her favorite friends. The Hidden Valley Ladies were the love of her life. They cherished her and included her in every activity. She paid them back by teaching them water ballet in the hot tub. Her sense of humor never faltered. Our deepest appreciation to all the lovely ladies who propelled mom into her 90's. They kept her young and spirited. Dorothy was spontaneous and fun-loving; dressing up in costumes for dances as a youth and ethnic outfits when traveling. Curtis and Dorothy traveled the world with the Utah Plumbing and Heating Association members. The Bear Lake house was always full of family and friends. Dorothy served a continuous array of food and fun with grandkids underfoot and adapting to continuous construction projects. What a life! She lived every moment to the extreme and is an example of passion and yet, supreme discipline. Right up to the end, she kept asking "what am I supposed to do next?". We honor her competitive nature, integrity, endurance and independence. She played the game to the very end and never complained about the score. Thanks to Brighton Hospice and Cottonwood Place for the loving care bestowed upon her this past year. Survived by four children Frank David Evans, Elizabeth E. Moon, Raymond Curtis Evans, Kent Folland Evans (Lucille); 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband; son Ralph Folland Evans; 3 grandchildren; and brother George Pringle Folland.
A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Friday, March 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Private family graveside service will be held at Salt Lake City Cemetery.
In Loving Memory
May I offer my sincere condolences. May your hearts find comfort in God's Word where it states: ?He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord will wipe the tears from all faces.? (Isaiah 25:8) May your loved one awaken to a world where there will be peace, no sickness (Isaiah 33:24), and no more troubles (Revelation 21:4) throughout eternity (Psalm 37:29). May your hearts find comfort and hope in God's Word, family, friends and good memories at this time. My deepest sympathy to you.

My sister, Frances, and I are terribly dismayed to have lost someone we have known our entire lives. Growing up, we lived only two doors away from Dorothy and her family. Dorothy was always kind and loving towards us on a daily basis, and her daughter, Elizabeth, continues to be a friend for life. We love you both.
