Dorothy Jean Dannevik Thamert Erickson

January 11, 1929 - July 28, 2023

Dorothy passed away peacefully on July 28, 2023, at age 94.
She was born January 11, 1929, in Salt Lake City to Mamie Radler Dannevik and Paul Oscar Dannevik.  She graduated from South High School and attended Nursing School at the University of Utah. She married Verne Thamert and they had five children.  She was a great mom.  Later, she married Robert Erickson.
Three pillars of her life were ever present until the end:
Her Lutheran faith—she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church her whole life, or as she put it, “it seems like 100 years.”
Her U of U Sports—she went to U of U football and basketball games as a little girl with her father and for the last 30 years has had season tickets. She was the best heckler of the other teams and their fans.
Her family — children, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were her proudest achievements and greatest joy. She kept everyone connected through holiday celebrations, dinners, and get-togethers.
She is survived by her four children Gerry Thamert (Donna Gietzen), Judy Regan, Jim Thamert (Sharon Seely) John (Nanci) Thamert; two stepchildren Bob Erickson Jr. and Sheryl Swaner; twelve grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husbands and her son Greg.
The family would like to send a “Thank You” to her caregivers at the Abbington, especially Josie Thamert, and to the members of the Inspiration Hospice Care Team for their excellent care.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 10 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance on the north side of the building. She will be laid to rest at Lake Hills Memorial Estates on Friday, August 11 at 10:00 AM.
Flowers may be sent to Starks Funeral Parlor or donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Humane Society of Utah, a local animal shelter of choice or to Memory Matters of Southern Utah.
