Dorothy Thatcher Folland Hecht
August 9, 1918 - November 10, 2013
Dorothy Thatcher Folland Hecht died on November 10, 2013 at the age of 95. She was a very special person, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Dorothy was born August 9, 1918 in Rexburg Idaho to Raymond D. Thatcher and Elsie Webster. She attended school in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from East High School in 1921.
She married George P. Folland on January 4, 1940 (deceased). She later married Eugene Hecht on April 25, 1974 (deceased).
Dorothy loved being a Pink Lady at Holy Cross Hospital where she served for many years. She was elected President of the Utah Pharmaceutical Ladies Auxiliary Association in 1957. She was also an active member of The Ladies of Kiwanis. She was a very caring and compassionate woman who will be remembered for her kindness and service to others.
She is survived by her children, Frank J. Folland (Janet), Don T. Folland (Carol), Gerri (A.C.) Gomez, Larry (Ashlee) Hecht, and Judy Hecht, 5 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren along with beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
We’d like to express our sincere appreciation to Don and Carol for their devotion and care of our mother over the last 18 months.
In lieu of flowers it was Dorothy’s request that people make a donation to the charity of their choice in her name.
A viewing and celebration of her life will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 from 6-8pm at Starks Funeral Parlor located at 3651 South 900 East in Salt Lake City, Utah. Complimentary valet parking will be provided on the north side of the building.
