June 28, 1973 - December 16, 2023
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Douglas Allen Saar, age 50, beloved father and husband, who left us suddenly on December 16, 2023.
Born on June 28th, 1973, Douglas entered into eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and service. In 1993, he embraced the sacrament of marriage with his college sweetheart, Tara Saar. Their union was blessed with four cherished children: Emily (29), Carter (26), Gregory (12), and Clara (11).
Guided by a profound faith, Douglas dedicated his life to service and love. He graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1995, where he excelled in academics and sports, playing varsity tennis and participating in the student council. His journey continued at Gonzaga Law School, graduating in 1998.
For 15 years, Douglas practiced law, embodying the teachings of compassion and justice. His commitment extended beyond the courtroom as he founded the Volunteer Lawyer Association for Island County, WA, receiving the Volunteer Lawyer of the Year award for three consecutive years. His passion extended to helping women and children, advocating for their rights and well-being.
A 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Douglas exemplified the principles of charity, unity, and fraternity. In his spiritual journey, Douglas found solace in a special devotion to the rosary.
Douglas held a profound appreciation for sports and the outdoors. Whether snorkeling in the Pacific, hiking across Utah, catching a round of golf, or coaching his children in baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, golf, and basketball, he embraced life to the fullest. Beyond his active pursuits, Douglas enjoyed cheering on Eastern Washington University football and wholeheartedly supported all things regarding Gonzaga Basketball.
Douglas was a lifelong learner with a passion for entrepreneurship. He ventured into the world of winemaking after attending Enology and Viticulture school in Walla Walla. More recently, he opened a Window and Door replacement business in Utah, becoming the fastest growing EcoView Window and Door location in 40 years.
Douglas’s legacy is one of unwavering dedication to God, family, and community, with a special place in his heart for advocating for the rights and well-being of women and children.

To the family of Doug. I'm just hearing about this today and it truly saddens me. I had the opportunity to work with Doug at Renewal by Andersen of Tri-Cities. I also was the one who helped build the shed and put on the floor trim in your home in walla walla or college place. The last time I spoke to Doug was May 2nd. Doug to me was someone I felt I should keep in touch with, even if it was just a hello. He was generous and smart, and those qualities stood out to me. My condolences.
