Douglas B. McAffee
January 12, 1929 - December 14, 2017
"Doug"
Our loving husband, father, grandfather passed away December 14, 2017 surrounded by his family.
Doug was born January 12, 1929 in Salt Lake City, UT to Alma and Alberta McAffee. He met Corinne Pyper at the age of 15 and the two dated through High School. Corinne and Doug married while he was attending pharmacy school at the University of Utah.
Doug proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He retired as a full commander from the Naval Reserves after 20 years of service.
Following the war, Doug decided to get his real estate license. He opened his own business as a broker and had one of the top grossing Century 21 franchises and was even named Realtor of the year. He had three offices serving the wasatch front.
Doug was the happiest when he was at his cabin at Bear Lake where he loved sailing and fishing. He also was a devoted Ute fan and enjoyed tailgating. After his retirement, Corinne and Doug enjoyed traveling, cruising and snow-birding. He was a loving, caring man who will be missed.
He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Corinne; children Kevin (Tammy), and Keri; 3 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to celebrate Doug's life on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking provided on the north side of the building. He will be laid to rest on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City.
Special thanks to Sunrise Assisted Living, Brighton Hospice and Dr. Nelson, who gave Doug a better quality of life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
