Douglas Henry McCulloch

Douglas Henry McCulloch

Douglas Henry McCulloch was born March 16th, 1955 in Salt Lake City, UT and passed away on November 7th, 2010 in Denver, CO.  Doug was the son of Ollie McColloch (deceased) and Florence Burgin McCulloch, the brother of Anne McCulloch Nelsen and brother-in-law of William C. Nelsen.

Doug grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from Utah State University, where he served as editor of the Student Life newspaper and remained a loyal Aggie.  Doug had many interests in life and most had to do with sports, politics and people, including cats.  He enjoyed all sports as a participant and as a spectator, was a life-long Democrat and he believed that all people should be treated with fairness and equality.  Doug collected friends from all walks of life and backgrounds and was unconditionally accepting of everyone.  He moved to Denver over twenty years ago where he worked in communications and continued to make friends and have new experiences.

Dough is survived by his devoted mother; his sister; brother-in-law; his favorite Aunt Audrey Hazelgren; many cousins; countless friends; and his cat Buster.  The family is grateful for the love and kindness of Stan and Bernice Geels, Mike Monsour, Jerry Behler, Jennifer Blaire and his many other Denver friends who supported him during his health challenges.  Doug would want everyone to sign up to be an organ donor.

A gathering of friends and family will be held in Doug’s honor on Tuesday, November 30th from 6 to 8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.

In Loving Memory

I have not seen Doug since we graduated from Skyline High School. After reading this beautiful obituary it brought back fond memories of what a great guy Doug was. I also remember the same thought's my father (Tally Sr.) had for his dad Ollie. My deepest sympathy goes out to your family.

I was saddened to see this obituary in Sunday's paper. I recently ran into one of our mutual friends from USU days and Doug's name came up, unfortunely neither of us knew where he had gone since leaving Logan. I have not seen Doug since our time together at Utah State but I will always have fond memories of his crazy zest for life. He was truly a one of a kind type guy.

My father, Cecil Henry McDermaid, had a great love for the McCulloch family. He often expressed fond memories of Ollie, Catherine, Claude, Clyde & Myrtle. I remember Doug & Anne as children when we visited my grandmother, Anne, in Loigan. I'm so sorry for your loss. It would be great to catch up at some future date. Please feel free to e-mail.
