Doug was a good friend to me and my wife for nearly 30 years. We will treasure our many memories of chats, texts, talking Steelers and UTES football and our golf games, meeting up for lunch or holidays. Doug had a great laugh, deep faith, fun sense of humor, and genuine kindness. We love Doug and his dear wife Wendi, and we will deeply miss Doug and his great friendship. Sending Wendi and the family peace and comfort during these difficult days and always, Alan and Helga Swanson

My deepest condolences to Wendi, the Sappie family and Doug's extended family. I worked with Doug at the UTA during his whole career and we had a enjoyable friendship from our first meeting. We both had a strong belief in God which bound us from the get-go. It's good to remember and know, we will all be together again, one day...up yonder. Until then my friend, you will be missed! J.V. We are heartbroken by the loss of Doug. We loved playing pickleball with Wendi and Doug, whenever we could. Doug was a very kind Christian man. His faith was strong and his strong participation on the Operations Committee was important and valuable. We will miss him very much.
