Douglas Ross Wilson

September 4, 1948 - June 28, 2017

Our beloved brother, uncle and friend Doug Wilson, 68, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2017 after valiantly dealing with multiple health issues for many months. Doug was born on September 4, 1948 in Salt Lake City to Betty Bernhisel Wilson and Ross Talmage Wilson.
In his early years, Doug served as a Salt Lake City police officer and later went on to work at his all-time favorite job with the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office. He also worked at Job Corp and did various handy-man jobs, he was a skilled carpenter.
Doug was loved by all who knew him and he had a great personality that everyone was attracted to. Doug loved to cook and was a great one at that. He was also an avid reader and could beat you most of the time at a game of Trivial Pursuit. He loved to watch sports on TV (especially Football, Baseball and Golf). He was an avid University of Utah fan. He also enjoyed shooting sports and wood working.
Doug was deeply fond of spending time in the great outdoors. He especially enjoyed hiking and camping in the Moab area, one of his favorite spots was Swasey's Beach along the Green River. He once came close to owning and running Ray's Tavern (Green River, Utah) with close friend John Lomax.
Doug is survived by his sister Liz (Mickey Roach), Niece Jessica (Brian Walters) and nephews Zach (Alisha Roach), Jim (Wendy Roach) and Adam (Hannah Roach) and by great nieces Drew Roach and Eilee and Eliza Davis and great nephews Ty and Will Roach and Richard Davis. Proceeded in death by his parents and Sister Julie.
We wish to thank all of Doug's care givers at University of Utah Healthcare and Mount Olympus Care Center and Legacy Home Health. A special thanks to his dear friends John and Margie Lomax for their loving friendship and attention they gave Doug during the last several years of his life.
Doug will be laid to rest Friday July 7, 2017 at Salt Lake City Cemetery at 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Hors Devours and beverages will be served.

In Loving Memory

My deepest sympathies to the family and friends. Death at any age is difficult. May you find comfort in the words found at 1 Corinthians 15:26. It says: And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing. And Hosea 13:14 says "From the power of the Grave I will redeem them; From death I will recover them." A wonderful promise from God who cannot lie.
